I didn't start here, you started attacking me. Go read the start of this conversation. When I made an observation in post 1367 that disagreed with yours, you got personal. Even on your thread I simply made a suggestion where you started attacking me. I do understand your insecurity

You are saying my points are invalid (same as saying BS), same same...

No Brad, your points are the most valid and none of us disagree. You are the guru you always wanted to be

You didn't say "I think those systems would not sound as good as you claim" , You were dismissive and stated it like it was an obvious fact and not your opinion, thus attempting to invalidate me rather than disagree with me...it is an obvious tactic...

Brad... For the record, I don't respect any of your observations or experience. So can we move on now?

grow up, both of you....
remember thread title
anyone else tried SPUDs? single tube power amp?...real flea power

mine was based on Andrea Ciuffoli SESS headphone amp but with 6C45pi and a Lundahl speaker OPT instead of for headphones
my friend Gary at Borderpatrol designed a custom superoversized tube rectified choke input psu

real intimate close up sound.....
I first built it as a headphone amp for my Sennheiser 650
then I added another OPT and a switch arrangement and speaker output to try on AG as poweramp
finally I added another feature to be able to use it as tube buffer amp on the A80 reprocards.....
worked excellent in any of the 3 positions

here´s the Norwegian rebuild thread on HIFIsentralen

How well can it drive your current speaker

better than Trio; easier load and higher sensitivity
but I sold it, since I didn´t use it enough and it was in a huge Plitron chassis as you can see in the thread
about EUR2K in parts...

Only heard something like that with headphones.

My amp is technically a SPUD I guess, EL34s and OPTs are all there is. There's no voltage gain though, it's actually slightly negative gain, but many active preamps are capable of driving it. I use one of Broski's Aikido designs for voltage gain, 6SL7s then a 6SN7 buffer.

I've also considered installing a switch to change from OPT output to an interstage with the EL34 driving yet another amp stage, 211 or GM70. Although my speaker really only needs more than EL34 level power if you want very high SPLs. It drives a 4.5" wideband with a light paper cone in a 330 Hz JMLC + a Fostex T500.

Speaking of 6SN7, these can be used as PSET. There was one at RMAF a few years ago, though I forget exactly who made it. It was a small company with a pair of massive high-eff speakers driven by the 6SN7 PSET. I might rather go with 12BH7 but not sure I'll ever try this!

Huh where's da Lampi? Wot speakerz is dat?

Looks like Greg is doing too well:D

His Lampi is sold out. He has a TRP on the way. Interested to hear that as I haven't heard one properly. We did the shootout with the Sikora TT and the Art 1000 into the Silvercore phono.

Diapason. He has had them for a while. I have heard them with various amps but first time I heard them with the headroom of the audio music 833. Greg got that as a trade in and is selling for 12k ish GBP, so 120 watts of that. If anyone wants contact G point. It's Chinese so low price I guess, but quite good.

I put up a recording in the male vocals. I will put up one more here. The headroom and clarity and musicality is excellent. The highs too, very musical speaker. Italian.
