To anyone who wants to believe that the Audio as a business does not suffer the same issues and problems of other Industries both public, private and governmental I have some great deals on a few bridges. I have been around this for a very long time as an inside participant. I have been sales, I have been management, I have been dealer, I have been National Sales manager and I have been distributor. THe only part I have not played is manufacturer. I also consulted for a review magazine, sorry I forgot about that for a second.
There is no pure anything in this Industry. I don't assume when I see or hear anything today that there might not be some special sauce on top.
Ron, my friend, there are no rules. There is some integrity but trying to find it is a daunting task. Its hard to have rules in a undercapitalized, ego driven business where the ability to market, promote and advertise to expand is incredibly limited by both money and inspiration.
Its all been corrupted or have tried to be corrupted many times. When I worked with HP I heard many proposals, many offers, many shady things and there are dozens of other stories out in the ether for people to read.
MY point of all of this is its easy to point fingers but IMO the audiophile community is knee deep in this. People want discounts and buy products based on discounts and are willing to do many things in order to get them. This change has slowly occured over the term of my involvement and has grown to be quite substantial. As the numbers go up so does the "shilling" As long as people believe that "reviews" sell boxes then beware
Forums are great and serve many purposes but they also serve as marketing and promotional tools. All SM does as well and money corrupts it all.
Let us not pretend that it doesn't. My belief is as my father taught me , first do you homework on who to buy from, and then decide what to buy.
He was simple man but a few of his thoughts are incredibly handy.

Wanting to blame someone is easy and IMO solves nothing. People want to make a living and a profit. Just remember that and be smart!
