The Sydney Audio Show was held a week after RMAF. So we did have quite a few new surprises that were shown at RMAF brought to Sydney.

These videos were taken on my new iPad and probably can be seen in 720p. Please do not judge the contents as audio reference material, but just enjoy the content.

A few "Likes" would be well appreciated if you think they are worth it.;)

I am unsure if posting links or placing the clip is easier, but here goes.

Cheers,

Neville

Thanks, think you duplicated the JBL horns and left out the Kyron vid! All this goes to show just how smaller the world is thanks to the Internet! :)

Thanks for posting these, Neville. I heard the Kyrons in the Melbourne Audio Show. Tip: get them to play your CD instead of the audiophile schmaltz they have. Everyone who was listening was pretty impressed until my CD went in. Don't know why, it's normally a pretty good sounding CD! Well actually i'm guessing why ... it's that DEQX.

I wonder if they have managed to sell any of those speakers. They are insanely expensive.

G'day Keith,

Didn't get to try or hear anyone else play their music on the Kyron's. And they are definitely stratospheric in pricing!

They were trying to showcase themselves into the US market after the Melbourne show, but when I did question them they probably didn't feel it quite the right time as yet.

Great to hear from you. BTW, Movida opened a Sydney branch! What a great night that was. Still remember it.

Cheers,

Neville

Did you ask them to play something?

I was there with a few others, they put on anything the person wanted to. I certainly played something that would not have been acceptable elsewhere:D

But then again, naturally my music is not as good as Keiths. Nor is it as revealing ;)

Of course it was the deqx.

Dontcha just love it when the audiophile...who believes all things such as amps, cables, pre's, cdp's and or interconnects make a difference to the sound are somehow magically able to put their finger straight onto the offending component...

Of course it could be their own pathological bandwagon as well.

Seriously, you listen to these audiophiles dissecting 'what they heard' at the show. "What about that amp..blah blah blah" "Have you ever heard those speakers before?" No. "Heard those cables before?" No. "That system in that room before?" No.

But there they are, giving impressions of the amp.

Man, I did not think it even possible, but I walked away even more disillusioned with this whole audiophile gig. That the person thinks he is able to magically distill the individual contributions of each component to the final flavour, mind boggling. By the same token, it is THESE guys who push the 'synergy' angle. Synergy, that mystical confluence whereby the sum cannot be predicted by the parts. The thing which works in mysterious ways and is hence completely unpredictable.

Yet here they are, dissecting the individual contribution of a previously unheard component in a completely new system in a room that, inevitably, sucked.

And what is this guff from the manufacturers? Each and every one, along with the individual reports from these shows..."well the room is not helping and that explains why this system has not made your jaw drop''. Of course on the forums we have a different mantra don't we. The solution is ALWAYS this new cable, or these mass dampers that sit on your speakers, or those cable lifters. Yet look and see how deserted any thread about room treatment or the 'role' of the room is on any forum taken at random.

It's the same on any of these threads too..."well what do you really expect from a hotel room?'' Yet umpteen other threads about cables, amps what have you. As I pointed out to one of these manufacturers, that size room would NOT be atypical in a lot of cases. A forum like this could reasonably be expected to contain a greater percentage of "excellent" rooms than the norm, but again that would be atypical.

Maybe I gotta get some cable lifters.

Hi Neville, hope you are enjoying the Movida in Sydney :) I meant to thank you for the gift card that you sent me earlier this year. I was rather confused, but I figured out that it might be you :)
