The End Of A 35 Year Journey ---Zellaton The Ultra Frontier

The issue of low powered tube amps has been raised and certainly has been my prime concern until I had lengthy talks with Gideon. He knows my amps very well and said it will not be an issue in my room.

Here are a few links to Zellaton with low power amps

The last time I was in Munich the only room I went to 3 separate times was the Zelaton room. With the drivers using the same materials the speakers sounded like a pair of electrostatics with strength. It was impossible in any way to tell it was a multi driver speaker. After listening to endless box speakers at the show, Zellaton was the only standout for me. I am sure The Dr. will enjoy and start the tweaking process. With tubes it will even be more listenable for sure. Congratulations.

I cannot seem to find a complete set of specs on the Zellaton Reference Ultra...It seems many are using with low wattage Class A...

Congrats, Steve! Welcome to the world of drivers of the same material (unmatched in terms of driver-to-driver coherence IME) made primarily of aluminum and designed and built in - house!

Being able to keep your current amps is clearly a major plus, awesome. :)

Not necessary Patrick. The bass on these speakers is pretty remarkable. I can’t recall ever seeing Zellaton showing with the aid of subs. Nor do I think owners who are members here employ subs. You’ll come have a listen and youlll decide. You have some preconceived notions

Fantastic Steve. It isn't at all easy to find an upgrade to a system like yours but I think you've done it. Looking forward to hearing all about it. thanks for the great and informative description of the journey to arrive at the decision.
