The Hyperbole thread

we all realize, i'm sure, that magazines own the copyrights to the review verbage.....and actually license (make money) from a manufacturer's use of this verbage on their website or in advertising. it's a source of revenue. the more verbage is desired to be licensed, the better.

so the magazines are certainly not motivated to tone down superlatives at all.

i'm not suggesting any overt encouragement to over-the-top viewpoints toward reviewers; but not much reason to hold them back.

those 'comments' on covers are not accidental.

Mike, Audioholics is just a website for products' advertising, with some reviews, articles, and a forum for their members. It's not a mag. :b

They mainly advertise (and review products) for/from manufacturers having a financial stake at their site. ...Emotiva, Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo, Oppo, etc.

I know that site since the very beginning, and all its front runners (and quite well I'd say).
...And I've seen people come and go over the years (reviewers, members, etc.).

-- Words (communication) are the most powerful tools to spread a message across. And the more it is understood in the same language as most people speak the more extend the reach.

Hyperbole language is way behind simplicity. ...Like "fake science" vs natural "tell it just like it is".
