The Martian | Official Trailer [HD] | 20th Century FOX

***1/2 Boston Globe

? Out of 4 or 5 Ron?

I saw a preview showing about 10 days ago. The story line continually contradicts itself. At some points, sometimes NASA has money to burn and at other times it doesn't do things that should be almost automatic. Sometimes the wind is the big problem and at other times (because the atmosphere is so thin) the wind is no problem at all. Sometimes Damon's character is near genius other times he acts like a grade school kid. And then there's the thing about music selection.

? Sounds pretty much like real life. ;-)

hi Bob. not on 3d.

? Thx Phil...I'm big on 3D myself...and Ridley Scott's 3D films are some of my favorites...done with 3D artistic taste/flair...the guy is a true 3D craftsman artisan/creator. And I'm very happy for that...joining the ranks of the best master 3D film directors...Cameron, Jackson, Scorsese, Bay, and few others.

And Christopher Nolan...I just wish that someday he'll wake up too.

The ending song 'I Will Survive' seems to be just fitting. :)

There is not a lot of 3-D in the movie. But when there is 3-D it pops out and is a little bit distracting.

Ok, that's interesting feedback. I would have thought that life on Mars is more attractive in 3D than in 2D...just a perception of the mind.

* About you Steve...3D or 2D?

2D. Not a big 3D fan. Only 3D film I've ever liked was Hugo

I'm not a 3D fan either. Have only seen 2 in my life, Captain EO in Disney World and a short Nascar docu in an IMAX theatre here. I don't think I can stand wearing those 3D glasses for 2 hours or more.

Ok, should I try to convert few here? :b

Anyway, earlier today I read a review of 'The Martian' in 3D, and the Canadian guy said that it was the best 3D movie he saw so far.

__________

I have over 400 3D Blu-ray titles @ home...and a bunch of those I saw twice...or more.
Of course I have my list of 3D favorites, and I'm a humble guy with a humble setup. * I'll do something 3D eventually from a new starting 3D thread...Blu-ray and IMAX.

But 'The Martian' I want to see in 3D. ...Definitely.

Funny you just mentioned that...an ex-girlfriend asked me today; "Robert how are you?" ... I said; "I will survive." :b

________

Aside from that hit, there's also Turn the Beat Around, Hot Stuff and Rock the Boat, that got me nostalgic. :D

I saw "The Walk" in IMAX 3D last night. Only way to see the movie and get the feeling of actually being on the wire with the Nut.
I only went because my girlfriend wanted to see it but it turned out to be very good. The wire walking scenes between the towers were amazing!

Watched it today in 3D. On the way to the cinema, I asked my wife whether she thought Matt Damon would be rescued. She said "of course". I said "yeah. I think so too."

Do any of you think that he WON'T be rescued? :)

Just saw it in 3D. FINALLY!! A wonderful summer movie...even if it's October.

I've read that on screenings 'The Walk' in 3D made few people throwing up (restroom of the theater) and many people had "vertigo" with discomforts, etc.

3D is becoming a very powerful cinematic tool for film directors...'The Martian' with very good depth on the planet Mars and its surroundings, 'Everest' with the mountain, snow and the 3D sound too (Dolby Atmos) with the winds, blizzard, the heights, ... and 'The Walk' with high altitude between the twin towers that give people "vertigo" and made them throwing up...just wow!

I am a big fan of 3D, and I know it's just the beginning...Holography 4D is next.

*** When it's sunny outside and that I'm driving my convertible sports car I always wear shades. When I take a walk up the mountains near where I live on a bright sunny day I wear shades, when I was downhill skying on the snow slopes on bright sunny days I was always wearing shades, when I watch a 3D movie or @ IMAX or on Blu-ray I always ...

While I will wait for the Blue Ray, I expect him to be eaten by a Martian sand worm. Just as the rescue craft lands, and it is then eaten by the sand worm.

I just saw The Martian. I thought it was great!
