The Sound of Pacific: The Newest DAC from Lampizator

Dalby looking indeed. Beautiful. Around $40,000 ?

I think SE starts in the low $20Ks and that Bal units would be mid to high 20s?
Those are the rumours anyway.

I does look very attractive, wow indeed.

Those are some specially done 300B valves. I cannot wait for the specially done 2a3s and the PX4s. Just to confirm, the 4 tubes in the power supply are still concealed, and the two tubes in the middle are the driver tubes?

SE non volume starts at eur22k which is $26k at today's fx rate and runs up to eur29k / $34k for the balanced iteration with volume control. nb these prices are excluding EU VAT & shipping.

Concealed tubes?
So some we can't see from that photo?
No second psu chassis?

FYI - I've just spoken to ?ukasz on the phone and he told me that the bolts you see are just on this preproduction unit used for the pics. The production units will have all the bolts concealed, like on the dCS DAC.

are you sure?
maybe the filament supply to the 300b as the big rectifier is up top?

Well that was what I read in previous chatter, one recti, 4 small tubes in power supply, and 2 pairs of output tubes which will be in series to each other, and the pair in the middle of the recti and the other pair will be the driver tubes. So now that it is revealed, wanted to confirm if that all is correct

A little OTT for my liking, the Chinese should take to it well. Why the switch from R2R to Delta Sigma? In my experience R2R has more flow and sounds more natural in its presentation.

In house DS chipset not used in audio. 2 years in development I am told.

Delta Sigma has a very identifiable character , it may be more seemingly explosive , but has a more stop start presentation when compared to a R2R implemented DAC . I would be glad to be proved wrong by the advances Lucaz has made with this new chip.

Is this same for GG2?

I wouldn't presume so as Lukasz told me there were different circuits between the two models. That said, they have been beavering away behind the scenes for some time on the GG DS implementation and it is likely improved over earlier iterations.

Even with GG and big 7 there were two GGs offered, one R2R and one non. People had different preferences. The R2R then was more explosive, higher resolution. But this is a different implementation of non R2R and there are already much better reports from people who have heard a prototype. Even with Big 7, I found the non R2R superior to most, let alone the GG R2R, so this will be a significant step up. If anything, I would like to take out those 300b valves and plug in the special 2a3 and PX4s, never liked a 300b myself.

So, this thing is a one box design?
I thought psu in a seperate chassis, that w the enclosed tubes.
Certainly w my digital epiphany and love for all things '0's and '1's, this plus SGM would be top of my Xmas present list to Santa for front end to compete w the v best, whether v top DCS or MSB, and also v top analog.
£45k rrp PAC w SGM is not stupid money for the SQ I can quite imagine would be provided.

How did we reach 45k?

I thought that at €23k plus vat, w almost €/£ parity due to Brexit, and €16k on SGM, that certainly means at least £40k burning a hole in anyone's pocket prior to reaching for chequebook?
I'm sure Ked you can run a better price, you're always talking about getting good deals.
