I have owned and heared most of the named contenders. But if you are looking out for the
"best", my opinion is, that none of them can come really close to the ViV Rigid Float 9".
After giving it a solid base you are done.
Sonically it is in a league of its own.
It is very easy to adjust. Only the underhang has to be adjusted. SRA and azimuth are
easy to change as well.
Another big plus is that the arm really squeezes out the best of every cartridge I have
used (or friends owning the tonearm too) ... no matter of the weight (headshell/cartridge)
or compliance. There are no resonance problems at all.
Cartrides were a lightweight ZYX 4D (Atmos), a heavyweight SPU, a Koetsu Rosewood,
a higher compliance Ortofon Vero+, DS-Audio DS-W1 and DS-Audio DS-002 so far.
As a conclusion I sold all my other "high end" tonearms. Only a modified Jelco 12" is left as
a sparring partner for the Ridid Float.
