@dminches no worries there I have a Roon core on my Synology NAS.The Lumin can serve as a Roon endpoint but not a Roon core. I really like Lumin's own software but if you want to run Roon you will need a separate box for Roon.

What external supply works with the Lumin. And I agree clean power is critical. It's funny but if I run a tornado to the external power supply for the Lumin it's likely 25% of the cost of the Lumin and a dragon would be even moreExcellent. I have 2 of these units and really like both. One has a built-in DAC for a smaller system. I compared it to using a tubed Van Alstine DAC which cost $2500 when new and preferred the LUMIN DAC. In another system I have an external DAC which I prefer.
Just a side note. I found that the performance of both units improved significantly when I added a separate power supply.
I will likely use a tornado feeding the ifi iPower Elite, but seeing I have several 12v devices maybe there are PSU that support more than one output?I built my own Sean Jacobs DC 3.5. Any power supply that is 12V / 3A will work fine. I probably spent as much on the power supply as I did the server, but it made a huge difference.

Peter Bomberg said:@treitz3 would your DAC happen to have network connection ie can you stream to it
@Elberoth that is exactly how I have it set up, however I realized/learnt that I have a volume mismatch issue, the DAC I have MSB Cascade has a master volume not a volume per input so Roon via the network renderer works fantastic, I can set the default volume at 50 and using Roon I can adjust up or down from the DAC's setpoint, my wife using spotify can only reduce which isn't an issue if I was listening to the system at 60 or above, but if i was listening at 55 or less she can't hear it well in the dining room or kitchen and needs to walk over to find the remote (I might see about a second remote in the kitchen). This is a very small problem that apparently I am contemplating spending 20K to solve but that is a completely irrelevant pointThe problem I see with all those digital transports with variable digital output (Lumin, Grimm) is tha you will be throwing the resolution away.
Personally, if you need Spotify for your wife / party mode, I would just add a simple BT receiver with digital output and feed that into the MSB DAC on a separate digital input.
If you want sth with audiophile credentials, you can add sth like the McIntosh MB20:
The Lumin U1 had a separate power supply, as does the Lumin U1X. Unless something has changed the U1X was discontinued a few months ago. The Lumin U2 has an internal isolated power supply. I have always run both of my Lumin's through my power conditioner and have always been happy. What external supply works with the Lumin. And I agree clean power is critical. It's funny but if I run a tornado to the external power supply for the Lumin it's likely 25% of the cost of the Lumin and a dragon would be even more
I always get two remotes, one for each seating position! So my wife came up with the simplest solution, and as long as it works for her I am perfectly happy. Just buy one more remote!
smart move, in our case kitchen and living room. We shall see if this solves the issue, will update in Jan/FebI always get two remotes, one for each seating position!
