Videos of Acoustically-Coupled Audio Recordings

Peter, here is a video that you can participate in also. Please post your system video of this recording for comparison:

Here you go Carlos. This is Solti conducting the Chicago Symphony, Beethoven Symphony No 5, 3rd Movement, on London/ffrr, CSP-9. Vinyl record in box set of all nine symphonies. Ortofon cartridge. I might make another video with the vdH Colibri.

Do you have the DG recording? Might be nice to have a bit of apples to apples at least on the recording used.

Thank you for posting that Peter …It just made my year so far …No seriously ;)

But then we're into analogue v digital as opposed to system A vs system B.

Well it is still a system comparison, but I see your point. Carlos asked me to play this music on my system and make a video of it for a system in room comparison. I accommodated his request. I only have vinyl and the recordings are different, so we are where we are.

Argo then posted a digital YouTube file that was not of his system acoustically coupled to his room for comparison to my system video, so that’s really apples to bananas.

There is a new trend on these WBF system video threads where as soon as someone posts a Video of his system, someone then immediately posts an official YouTube video not of his system or any system for that matter, but simply a digital file for comparison. And they usually don’t leave any comments.

The only use for official YouTube vids vs system vids is when the system vid sounds better, as yours does in this case, then someone who hasn't got streaming can seek out the LP or CD in question.

Thank you Rex. I am glad you liked my system video, despite that it was influenced by my mediocre room and recorded with a simple iPhone mic. Such acoustically coupled in room system videos have to overcome a lot of challenges to compete with recordings made straight from the source.

Well Peter’s sounds very different from the file…

Yes, which is your preference?
In many cases the YouTube files sound far better than in room recordings. This view has been ridiculed by some here in the past, but it seems pretty obvious. If the reverse were the case, some might also draw inferior/superior conclusions to fit their narrative.
I don’t make anything of it other than thinking phone recordings exaggerate room issues. But then some in-room recordings can sound great…

So, after 2,878 posts, is it finally clear that Carlos has the best videos / room / system / process? Or is it still subject to a debate?

Totally clear, debate closed.
