I hope that this forum is forgiving, but I'd like to start a thread that relates to specifically to the WADAX Studio player. Forum threads often go off the rails, but I'm hoping that members will limit their posts on this thread to their knowledge of and experience of the WADAX Studio player only.

Thanks,

Richard

good idea but we here in the US don't have them yet :)

My dealer here in the UK today confirmed that his demo Studio Player has yet to arrive. We had preplanned my home demonstration for this week, however the new units have yet to leave Madrid, c'est la vie.

Hi Rich,

Sorry to hear about your delay. I guess that this is what happens when you release a new high tech product. I hope that you get your demo soon and have the time and inclination to tell us all about it.

First world problem, it's not an issue really, as you note the Studio is a brand new product, designed from the ground up.

Wadax have interacted with members here and as I understand have taken on board some of the feedback from potential customers, hence Wadax have already announced some minor tweaks, mainly software related, this in my view is a real positive, if it's the case they're taking a little extra time to implement any of the proposed upgrades the additional wait should be worthwhile.

I will of course pass on my impressions once I've had a chance to listen and evaluate the Studio.

Indeed, not too sure about Spain, but Italy and France pretty much close down in August. Not so much here in the UK, vacations are a little more spread throughout the Summer months, having said this my business is holiday based and August is a very busy Month for us.

Would it have been possible to have blu ray audio capability as well?
I have a small but growing number of BR discs, I'm not alone, acquiring a Magnetar 4K player to listen to them.

10 days ago I had the very great pleasure of having the Studio demonstrated as part of my system. Firstly thank's must go to the guys at Lotus HiFi, excellent service as usual. Four hours just isn't long enough to evaluate the full potential of this exquisite unit. Sonically it's everything I look for in a piece of audio equipment, big soundstage, precise full sized images and great resolution, nothing overly bright or sharp. The really outstanding memory for me is the holographic nature of everything, on the Rolling Stones, Wild Horses, Keith Richards guitar is located out behind the left speaker, crazily it's just hanging there, evidently this is what a decent system should produce, but I can't say I've ever felt this so palpably before.

The Studio is a truly wonderful sounding player and I would have already had my order in place but for one very obscure reason, I have a visual disability, unfortunately functionally I believe I would find operating the player difficult, I did wrestle with the idea of being able to adapt it to at least make it operational for me, but reluctantly I had to admit to myself that it wasn't right for me.

Thanks for the update Rich. It seems that the Studio met your sonic needs, so it's a shame that you haven't found a UI that works for you. Did you use it with app or via the on device display?

No I didn't try streaming, with my lack of vision CD is my go to option and the
Studio does an admirable job with RBCD. It is however remarkably resolving, not at all clinical, but you get the good with the bad, so poorly recorded discs are going to be exposed, on the flip side well recorded material sounded wonderful.

What I think is also worth mentioning, this demo unit had just travelled over 200 miles, taken out of it's flight case and only had about 40 minutes to warm up on my rack. I do wonder just how much the sound would have improved had the unit had a number of days to settle and warm up, that's slightly mind boggling.

I agreed with your observations / comments about the SQ of the Player. You may wish to use app such as JPlayer to control the Studio Player, apart from the remote control.

Agreed, all highly resolving systems / components will be very honest to bad recordings ....
