The Franck Piano Sonata is for me a bit of a chamber music fave. This is such a very lovely measured reading, these two have technique in spades but the poetry here in this reading for me is just as strong. The balance of both brilliance and soul is right and the flow and ebb through out the entire work is just fab. There is a great emotional intensity and Yuja Wang does the elegance and refined structure while Capuçon has that soulful searing and searching emotional quality.

The Chopin lets Yuja and both her pianistic poetry and technique come through to the fore. Just a lovely program of music and the interaction between these two fine players seems effortless and is for me quite magical.

Bernstein gets it done for me every time. Never been a big fan of Beethoven ..."until" I listened to this disc for what seemed like 3 X. Now, I understand why many people cannot get enough of this composer. Appears I have been missing out on magical moments...

Oh well...I can keep it going with Mr. Beethoven.

Gotta admit that Symphony NO. 7 in A Major, Op. 92, Allegretto is the shizzle...image.jpg

Comprised almost entirely of new versions recorded by native musicians with the composer present. To commemorate Latvia's Centenary.

Repackaging of the first four quartets combined with a new recording of the fifth with the replacement of founding member and first violinist, Robert Mann.
