Known as the vocalist and lyricist of Telex—the iconic electronic music trio he founded in 1978 alongside Marc Moulin and Dan Lacksman—Michel Moers produced and recorded his first solo album, released on Crammed Discs in 1990.
Now, Fishing le Kiss is being released digitally for the first time—following the complete vinyl reissue of Telex's catalog by Mute Records and the release of Moers’ second solo album, As Is (Freaksville).
This album of inventive French-language electronic pop music, unlike anything else produced at the time, was recorded in Brussels and features collaborations with Vincent Kenis (The Honeymoon Killers / Aksak Maboul), Eric Melaerts (Soulsister), BJ Scott, and Véronique Vincent (Aksak Maboul). The ironic and elegant lyrics were written by Michel Moers, except for two songs penned by renowned lyricist Jacques Duvall. Composition, programming, production, and vocals were all handled by Moers himself.
"30 years later, Fishing Le Kiss has been digitized and remastered—its songs remain untouched, not a word or note removed. These are songs I could have written today, only dressed differently (like my new version of Les Gens Sont Affligeants on As Is)."
