I'm fond of my Rogue ST100. Frankly, I'd be willing to pay several times its cost for a tube amp that uses better materials and sounds decidedly better. So far I haven't found that alternative. Instead, the alternatives seem to be priced many multiples higher to meet the return-on-equity requirements of private equity ownership groups or audio jewelry specialists.
I have used a fair amount of tube amps that had decent to good bass.
VAC Renaissance 140 has the most realistic bass I have heard.
Carver 305 tube amp has powerful bass, and I actually considered buying a pair for the subs on the pipedreams
ASL Hurricane DT had pretty punchy bass too
I'll have to disagree on the ASLs. Once I switched from ASL hurricanes to SS the bass was world's better. In particular the Wells Audio Innamorata trounces the ASLs wrt bass.
In my experience, the best tube bass I heard was from VTL Siegfriends and Lamm hybrids I believe. Both outstanding.
