On Cables

Very long Interconnect cables are not good for sound even if you use very tight accurate impedance xlr cable.

Finding the right xlr cable depends on other factors like the input impedance of pre and also the output impedance of dac/phono (or the input impedance of power and also the ouput impedance of pre).

As david said I think MIT or Transparent cables with custom tuned filter for your length are ok.

Hi Amir, I disagree that long interconnects are an issue. Capacitance over length is the primary factor, and any number of low-capacitance cables work well even at 50 feet. I agree that the right match between preamplifier and amplifier is always the best, but using cables with networks to tune a system—nah!

I'll defer to more technically inclined professionals for more on this, e.g., Dave from Zen Wave, Sablon, Angus from WestminsterLab, and Neng from MasterBuilt. However, it has never been my experience that long balanced signal cables that exhibit the right values are problematic.

Could you please let me know about your experience with long xlr cable?
Which xlr cable you used and what was the system?
Thank you

Hello Amir, we regularly use MasterBuilt Audio XLR cables 10 meters long at audio trade shows with exceptional results—zero signal or sound quality degradation.

...those XLRs between the Quest pre and Reis at CAF must have been pretty long, and nothing not to love in that room.
