Ron, perhaps if you could briefly explain to us what you think of the sound of your system and what you are trying to improve and why, your system thread may get back on track. You seem to be searching. What are you searching for and why?

If he is posting videos of his system on FB, shouldn’t it be about his videos? It shows what can be improved

Sure!

Last night I listened to music for two hours, and the night before I listened to music for four hours, mostly tape. Presently I am the happiest with the sound of this system of any system I've ever had or of any prior version of this system thus far.

As I've said for years I still think about pursuing my "alternative fantasy amp" of a PSET or a big SET. I announced a couple of weeks ago that I am ordering a new preamp. I've said for months that I hope to upgrade to the larger Clarisys Auditoriums.

Ron has not told us if that video represents the sound of his system. He did not share it here, and we do not know his purpose in posting it on Facebook.

If it does represent the sound of a system, I could share my opinion, but Ron has not asked for it. You simply found it, copied it, and posted it here without any commentary or permission. It has to be driven by Ron or it is idyl speculation and useless chattering.

Thanks Ron. Now I see why you edited my post. It seems you did not want to respond to the rest of it. Simply stating that you enjoy your system a lot now doesn’t answer a lot of questions. And perhaps most interesting, is why you want to try other things.

If that brief sound clip of your system, represents the sound of your system and you like it a lot, then there’s no reason for me to comment any further about the video. Your enjoyment is all that matters. Congratulations.

Where can the discussion go from here?

Yeah, because the rest of it was assumptive and erroneous.

 Incorrect.

I have no interest in re-litigating the infirmities of digital videos of audio recordings.

There’s no incorrect or correct. I was asking a question, not stating a fact. I have no interest in relitigating it, either, though this is not a courtroom. A simple yes or no would’ve sufficed in answer to my question. No reason then to share my thoughts on the sound as Ked suggested.

Asking why you want to try a different preamp or amplifiers is erroneous? Asking why you have so many questions about wires and different amplifiers is out of bounds?
No, erroneous that I am searching for something. I have the target.

Questions about wires?

I've talked about my "alternative fantasy amplifier" for years.

On the preamp I conducted a very fun hobby search project. I haven't thought about preamps in many years, so it was fun to research, and to talk to people, and to audition three candidates at home. Because of my very long interconnect run and natively single-ended amplifiers I wanted a preamp with:

-- very low output impedance,

-- tube-rectified power supply,

-- high output voltage,

-- all-tube design,

-- natively single-ended circuit,

-- gain of around 14dB to 20dB, and

-- remote control greatly preferred (A remote control was not quite essential, but there would have to be an awfully good reason to get a preamp without a remote control, given that my preamp is in a different room.)

On that answer why set tube not a bal ?
Tube cost or how many tubes
Lastly why a tube rectifier ?

(...) I wanted a preamp with:

Can you quantify the following aspects:
-- very low output impedance,

lower than X ohms

-- tube-rectified power supply,

Tube rectified or tube regulated or both?

-- high output voltage,

max Y volts

-- all-tube design,

-- natively single-ended circuit,

-- gain of around 14dB to 20dB, and

-- remote control greatly preferred (A remote control was not quite essential, but there would have to be an awfully good reason to get a preamp without a remote control, given that my preamp is in a different room.)

IMO just as stated you looking for the impossible.

I don’t get people in this thread — it almost feels like Ron vs. Horns are God Cult. Gentlemen, I wish you nothing but the best with your horns. I will give you brass big band sound and I will give you symphonic orchestra, but for the love of sweet baby j stop bullying this narrative that voices can sound good on horns. They can sound decent, but they are inferior to open baffle designs. You’ll just have to take that loss.

I, like many others, can’t live with a hifi system that can’t reproduce the human voice in the way I hear it in real life so (surprise) I steer clear of horns.

Lastly, and this is a purely subjective gripe. Horns are ugly.

Thanks.

What’s your impression to this clip? How do you find the sound? Do you like it or not?

/ Jk

I find it amazing!

Clearly, Ron has spent an order of magnitude more on his system than I spent on mine. I hope he enjoys it!

What comes through to all of you from this video? It’s ok if you don’t like the sound.

Hi Larry,

Can you please remove this from my system thread and start your own system thread?

This is not a general "post your video" thread. Thank you.
