Why, oh why, does vinyl continue to blow away digital?

Bonzo is not a real audiophile .
A real audiophile has a system which other audiophiles can critize.
No system of your own then don t critize others
Normally i would agree, but i Ked's case i make an exception ! He has done the work in other ways. :)

Ked is more an audiophile than most as he has taken the initiative to listen to many well sorted systems. Something very few audiophiles do. Most audiophiles perspective is based on the extremely limited equipment they have had at their own home. And some shows. And then they wag all the live concerts, they go to, to compare their limited home system with.

It's almost like saying somebody can't have an opinion about music unless they play an instrument themselves.

And why do I sense some are saying, to be an audiophile, you have to purchase expensive equipment. I don't see price having relevance. I see tuning and extraction of the highest performance as one important step towards an Audiophile card. And a curiosity with exposure to many types of systems.

Andro is not even doing that, though he tried his best to make everyone believe he was going to

When discussions are so polite and yet full of polite humor, it is a pleasure to continue reading. To be an audiophile you do not need to spend a fortune, but you need to love music and music reproduction in its various forms. Even a healthy curiosity is an indicator of open-mindedness and intelligence, then everything must be placed in your tastes. This afternoon I was at a friend of mine who with € 1200 had bought a pair of quad esl 63 with € 2000 a Restek Epos CD player, with € 700 he had bought a tecnichs 1200 turntable and with another € 1000 or so he built a 40 W class A integrated amplifier. He was as happy as a child opening presents on Christmas Eve and even I, listening to his music, had a big smile on my face. Thanks Ked, Andromeda, Lagonda and kingrex and sorry if I forgot to mention someone

I bet the system sounds real good. Especially if he can get the speakers places properly in the room. I have been blown away what my new room and having the space to situate speakers properly does. And I haven't even begun to address treatments, modify the electrical and double layer the drywall.

Audiophile= someone in love with audio; the music, the sound quality, with a goal of hearing the characteristics of music reproduction that each of the myriad of devices for such available produce … yes, I believe that Bonzo is very much a real audiophile.

It is strange it makes you happy you bought a cheap integrated amp to buy ticket to being real
I think that’s because of “audiophile courage.”

This courage is sky-high when an audiophile is criticizing someone else’s expensive gear—no detail is too small to nitpick. But the same person who demands absolute perfection suddenly backs down when it’s time to spend his own money. In the end, you see him settles for something mediocre. When it comes to his own setup, he becomes surprisingly easygoing and carefree—not because he lacks the money, but because he lacks the courage to spend it.

It’s always easy to criticize someone else’s expensive equipment.

Good easy to drive speakers dont need a ton of money spend on amps, spending money doesnt mean having good sound .
Spending money wisely generates good sound ;)

No, a real audiophile is someone who owns speakers more expensive than his car. :p
Lol :)
And so big are his new speakers....he has to buy a bigger house to put them in ! (although buying a bigger house may be cracking two rocks with one stone i.e. will also satisfy the wife / partner lol :) who most probably hates the huge speakers ! lol

I'm looking at a Porsche Macan GTS. Leather, surround.view, ACC, Sport Chrono. About $105K. Also need a new Mercedes. GLE400. About $80k.
Both nice vehicles. Both easily surpassed in cost by speakers, amps or DAC.

But not by your current system. You are not a Audiophile Rex ! ;)

The number one criteria for being a proper audiophile is you agree with this thread title.

Fortunately many of us consider them as simple audiophiles, not proper audiophiles. ;)

BTW I would prefer the words "informed audiophiles with open minds" for what I expect from this hobby. Many would disagree with the thread tittle, wisely finding it an inoffensive childish provocation.

...I don't use vinyl (not even for sitting), but I love the thread title. I read WBF on my phone, so I laugh with every post because the title I see on the small screen is:

Why does vinyl continue to blow...

Carry on posting! I need the laughs.IMG_3051.jpeg
