All unheard as my tube amp is not happening with the weather we are experiencing right now....heat wise; and my Rowland is still at Jeff's for updates etc., ( hopefully I'll get it back before next year:rolleyes:, !!)

I would love your take on that...please. ...The music itself, and then the quality recording of it.

It is IMHO the best album coming from Gilmour as a soloist - you will hear a mature Gilmour with a voice of a much younger man, great string arrangements (as expected) and well, great sonics.
Go for the box set if possible, just a few dollars more and lots of goodies inside including a DVD!
Skip track 2 (that actually gives the name to the album) :)

Thank you for your reply.

I just went in my living room and put the CD in the disc tray. * I have the Deluxe Edition Box Set (CD/Blu-ray: Stereo & LPCM/DTS-HA MA 5.1 @ 96/24).
I'm a Floyd fan and I must have 100+ different albums in various audio mediums, and from their separate band members...Gilmour I have them all.
...Blu-ray Audio, Blu-ray Video, SACD, CD (Q-Sound), LP. ...All Pink stuff, ...all Floyd, all Gilmour, all Waters, some Wright.

______

? Rattle that Lo-ck ... my favorite tracks are: #1 - 4 - 5 - 7 - 8 & 10
The tracks I like less are: #2 - 3 - 6 & 9 (track #2 just below - album's title)

______

________

<<>> I am listening to it some more...and see if I can learn to love the tracks I like less...in particular track #6

track 2 is un-listenable, looks it was mastered somewhere else and the composition just jumps out of the good standard that the rest of the album deploys....

Not just track 2 ...I mentioned three more.

For me, On an Island is a musical adventure from a more familiar/stable/comfortable "zone". ...Overall...the full album as a coherent ensemble.

Rattle that Lo-ck is inconsistent...breaking the rhythm of its totality. I listened to it already few times...and I'm fresh in my mind.
I am curious on other people's own impression...and you certainly agree with me regarding track #2 which is the album's title.

Try this: Program your CD player for only track #2 - 3 - 6 & 9. ...Then pick your two favorites. ...My guess is that you're going to pick track # 3 and 6.
Now, program only track number 3 and 6, and pick only the one...you love the most.

With CDs you can program your own compilation of the tracks you love most, and even the order they play.
Try to do that with a LP or open-reel tape. :b ...You'll have to get up, and cue the tonearm, @ every song, and then flip the record over.
No, audiophiles they usually don't do that...they listen to the entire album...@ least one side.

Johnny has the album (vinyl)...I'd like to hear his take too.

James Bay is another artist I just found who delivers in the same genre as Ben Howard, George Ezra, Sam Brookes and Hozier. His Chaos and the Calm Deluxe Edition has some great tracks on it. I have added a couple of samples below.

Pretty neat! Can't find the band or music on Amazon though. Is it a local band?
