And last night I was, from Tang and Ron. I revisited Denzel in this flick.
Right from the beginning with the music score I was again aspirated, vacuum teleported. Denzel is the perfect movie EQ. And Mila and Gary both offered companionship and disturbance, respectively.
This film is underrated by most professional movie critics.

The Book of Eli is one of my favorites. So much "meat" to it if one is interested.
Yesterday, I watched the re-released Matrix in 4K/HDR. The re-mixed sound was way more than excellent. It was mixed in Dolby Atmos and while most movie mixes never use more than a 7.x.4 configuration, this sound track will use as many as you have configured. Unlike most other Atmos mixes that are not to be mixed as "pure" objects, this one must be.
I played the music from the closing credits pretty close to reference. Now THAT is what 3D audio is all about !!!
This is my 3rd viewing of this movie. Each viewing brings a little better comprehension and enjoyment. I will be re-watching soon as my bride wants to watch with me.

I'm going down that 4K/HDR/Atmos road myself.
a year ago bought the Sony AE1 65" OLED and have been blown away by what 4K can do. and I'm seeing all this 4K/HDR/Atmos content coming down the tracks and thinking it's time to jump back into movies.
so I've re-awakened my 'old' Home Theater room in my house and have some current higher level upgrades on the way. JVC RS4500 + 124" diag 2:35 Stewart Tek 100 screen, Anthem AVM60, and -4- Revel C763L Atmos ceiling speakers to add to my long term Revel 7.2 set-up.....and take it to 7.1.4 Atmos. the pieces are arriving now, and I should be watching in a couple weeks.
looking forward to the bigger screen 4k experience......and great to read about it.

This is great news Mike; there is good life for you and your wife (friends) in HDR motion pictures and in 3D immersive movie music scores and sound provenances. It's like a providence.

thanks Bob. not seeing it quite that deep....yet. but agree that the immersive experience of movies has really taken big steps forward.
The 65" isn't a movie theater, But it wasn't bad. I enjoy looking for all the little things in the background, so I'll watch it again.

It's just my style of arranging words together, you know me by now.
Simply put you enjoy your time listening to music you like, everything else disappears; the walls, the floor, the ceiling and the gear.
You have some of the best gear for films too; and the films you like they transport you the same.
It is something for me to get immersed in Blade Runner 2049 in 4K with the cinematography and music score. It is addictive. ...Same for the remastering of The Matrix in 4K, and Saving Private Ryan in 4K.
We all have our taste in music, in films, in gear, in cars, in..., and in where we live and who we are.
It has been so long since we had seen this film, it was like a first time viewing (well, it was over 20 years since the release and not all the fault of our failing memories).
Mel Gibson should have won an academy award for this movie. Great acting job.
We both thoroughly enjoyed it --- and it was a "safe" enough movie that we could invite friends to see it without having to eek through difficult to watch scenes.

About a week ago or so a friend asked me if I saw Hostiles. I said no, and he said nothing else. Silence from him means artistic connection.
I'm into poetry, always was, even in films, and particularly with music and lyrics...that's why I love Bob Dylan and Van Morrison, among many others. I listened to this film in complete relaxed peaceful mode, the music is gorgeous, it speaks to my inner soul deep deep down, like a river cascading between mountains.
I spent most of my life in the outdoors, I'm familiar with my natural environments.
I've seen great sceneries in Canada, USA, border of Alaska, Central America, South America.
In Hostiles I was in familiar territory, non-orchestrated pure vistas wise. The cinematography is real life, clean camera lenses, no Dolby Vision added, splendid, marvelous, majestic, in its transparent element...clearly fluid.
The story is very tough, with profound dealing of the soul searching for life's true value meaning.
The violence cuts like a scalpel under a master surgeon, the sounds of pistols are more than just sounds, they hit their human targets with visceral velocity and tragic consequences. They leave bullet holes that spit blood and life out of people.
This is no ordinary western, it has some of that unforgiven impact.
The acting is also something else, nothing like Black Panther or Thor: Ragnarok here. It is extremely smooth, and efficient.
You don't even need to hear the dialog to know what the actors feel and say; good luck hearing Christian Bale (The Dark Knight, American Psycho, 3:10 to Yuma, The Fighter, Out of the Furnace, American Hustle, The Big Short, Empire of the Sun). I like the entire cast for the versatility in talents. The script is intelligent.

This flick had limited release in theaters, so the numbers are lower.
But numbers are not how we evaluate films, level of emotionally charged cavalry is. It's a way of speech.
Overall: 85 (Recommended with a capital "R" rating - for violence, color of blood).
Last word: A poetic cinematique western on several levels.

It's like a video game, a war game run by adults and fought by kids, an army of kids under the adult's guidance. Strategy comes from their leader, the smart one in the house.
It is comparable with our world we live in today, a sci-fi reality a la Elon Musk and all the gang inside the white building.
The picture is very pretty from the regular Blu-ray, and the CGI effects are impressive.
The audio soundtrack is typical sci-fi sound effects with low frequencies reaching the foundations of the couch in the room it's in.
It's a kid's game played exactly the same (similar) by growing adults. It's different than Black Panther, not from the same comic books.
Overall replay value: 27 (out of 100) ...Not as good as The Incredibles, of course.

Acting IMHO is very good.
Los Lobos is excellent and even Carlos gets involved. The three who sat in for
Eddie. Jackie, Buddy and Bopper really add a nice touch.

I re-watched Pacific Rim. BAD BAD movie. I have a list of new movies to watch and another list of movies to re-watch. This one should have been on a list of "why did I buy in the first place?". My guess would be that I purchased it in the first place for the possibility of great bass. There was lots of bass but not great. For someone who is as easily entertained as I am with "action flicks" this one failed to entertain me. BAD BAD movie.
Then, however, I watched Blade Runner 2049. This I enjoyed. Not perfect (a bit too long) but I most certainly got into the movie. AND the Atmos sound was most excellent. And the way they re-wove Harrison Ford into the movie was perfect. While I won't be re-watching anytime soon, I could see myself doing so in a few years.
Lastly, I "fell in love" with Ana De Armas!! WOWZER !!!

Pacific Rim is in stage two; Uprising. We cannot stop the unstoppable.

Young people don't listen to John Coltrane, they play Lara Croft games.
Old people don't watch Ultra-man versus Godzilla, they watch Netflix.
If I look in my music and film library since I've been collecting I can see various periods of my uprising without defining the meaning of life. They were thrills of growing up in stages.
It's funny looking back, it's even funnier looking right now @ the world stage.

As for Blade Runner 2049, I agree with you; she is very photogénique, adorable to look @, a feast for the eyes.
