Lamm ML3 + LL1, at last!

The Classic Exquisite is a beautiful speaker as Mike mentioned but it's only borderline acceptable with the ML3 IMO. The Midi Grand is the best cone speaker match I've heard with the them.

Yes, the same friend had the Verity's, great speakers but not as good a match as Kharma for the ML3. He also had Rockports before I got him his Kharmas.

I heard a Klipsch Khorn that was totally redone with new drivers that I thought sounded excellent. It used a vintage JBL 15", BMC compression driver and Fostex 500 Mk 2 super tweeter. I guess the Vitavox is a similar concept, Khorn cabinet with much better drivers?

No, the Vitavox is a ground up speaker design and way ahead of the Khorn that it was based on, what you heard is a DIY job.

I clearly heard a DIY job, that's obvious. I have to do some research as to how Vitavox improved on PWK's patented corner loaded exponential horn. What i understood is that the Vitavox and Hartsfield used the same horn loading for their bass.

Vitavox is very close to Khorn and they licensed the design, the difference is in the quality and the execution, Hartsfields are very different. When I say ground up, Vitavox built their own cabinets and designed their drivers with that cabinet in mind, it's a comprehensive design. Probably why the same drivers lack the same energy and drive in the Vox Olympian!

Gotcha.

I'm moving into a room that might accommodate corner horns so I'm thinking of going down that road. It looks like getting a vintage pair of Hartsfield would be the most realistic path as the Vitavox horns are too rare and the Khorn DIY road will probably yield marginal results.
 
Have you guys heard the massive Klipsch Jubilee? They look interesting too if you want to load into the corner.
 
The Vitavox corner horns and the JBL Hartsfields are just beautiful looking speakers.

I did notice there are classified ads for a supposedly NOS pair of Vitavox Cn-191 corner horns on both UK audiomart and free classifieds in Arizona with exactly the same pics... so one of these is (if not both) clearly bogus unfortunately.

Looks like the Vitavox is generating interest here and I'm getting emails regarding the bogus Arizona ad with questions about purchasing them. Again those ads are phony, they stole the pictures from one of my old photography sites that I used for sharing pictures with potential clients. Aside from the NOS aspect everything about the ad is fake.

Looking through this gallery I see an awesome pair of Tannoy Autograph professionals. Did I hear that pair at Seresh's house in Seattle? That pair was absolutely fantastic.

The best match for ML3 is the midi grand exquisite with F drivers, already set them up in two systems and used them multiple times at CES with ML3s. One of the systems belongs to a close friend and I've spent many days with him in his listening room tuning the system so I know this speaker very well.

Thanks. What are "F drivers"? Curiously from the scarce specifications supplied by Kharma I could think that the midi grand exquisite was less friendly than the XLF for the ML3's.

Yeah for sure. They would need serious modifications to get their sound into Vitavox league at a guess.

but isn't the simpler first order crossover of the Kharma's a bit more modest power 'friendly' than the XLF? even being a little less efficient?

i'm not saying this because i know it to be true, i really don't know about the finer points of amps and crossover approaches. it's just something that i've been told a few times. correct me if i'm off base here.

I going by with direct experience with both speakers Francisco much better than any spec. F Drivers are proprietary to Kharma designed and by them. I must add they're also revolutionary in their design and one of very few woofers light enough, sensitive enough and fast enough to keep up with the smaller lighter drivers in the speaker.

Crossover "simplicity" should reflect in efficiency and phase of the impedance - the XLF is quite friendly in this aspect. But we know there is a lot more in synergy than just electrical specs. Room gain can be a very serious issue with low power amplifiers.
