First off take two pictures. One of the speaker connections on the back of a speaker and one of the connections on the back of the amp.

BTW they are NOT Duetta Signatures. They are Duetta II but they might have had an upgrade to make them equivalent.

We'll worry about the bass panels and testing the speakers later. Let's just get them going first.
let me know if you need anything else

Here is the manual that came with them is this the diagram I should be looking for and I noticed that my cables are all numbered also I guess it's kind of self-explanatory just want to make sure what I'm doing and as far as cables this is what I have does it look like everything I need?

Got it it looks great but it does show its age some probably will have to restore the speakers from what little research I have done in the last day or two I had to buy this deal this weekend or never ,lady moving to the West coast tomorrow one of the aragon amps are two different sizes looks like one is a 400 is an 800 trying to figure out all these cords the manual did come with the speakers and this is pretty new to me for the most part I've always wanted something like this boy do I have my hands full these things are crazy heavy in any help or advice I can get how to hook these up and check them LOL to see if if they work and how good they work the lady I got them from I've known her a long time her husband had these right before I met her four years ago she said it's the last time they were hooked up and she said they were perfect but he died she does not know much about except he would switch the amps back and forth four different kinds of music she said I was getting cold feet and she ended up letting me have it for $1,000 even hopefully I didn't go wrong.

For 1k, I would have even bought the Duettas alone, even If they where completely destroyed ;)

And you got yourself the whole lot for 1k?
One of the Aragon's alone is worth more than 1k, let alone the TWO Krell KAS150 Stereo amps and the Duettas

Unbelievable, you are one lucky guy

No I'm in the Atlanta area I've got to figure out how to try to hook them up first to see if it works anybody know a good thread then I can learn how to read up how to hook up system
Hooking them up is rather straight forward, like any other HiFi system ;)
Your Ribbons and bass panels look very good, at least from the pictures.
Like kcim said, I would hook them up and enjoy them in the state they are now and get to know them.
just be VERY careful with the Ribbons and bass panels!
Never touch them and NEVER EVER use a vacuum cleaner on them.
And because of the very strong magnets, be careful with metallic pieces near the speakers. Those metal parts could be adducted and so destroy or at least dent the Ribbons/Bass panels

We can hold your hands (virtually) in the mean time :D

It is indeed odd.
The case is of an early version Duetta (with the lip at the bottom front) but the Terminal clearly says Signature which is the latest iteration... o_O

It's not that odd they did upgrade Duetta IIs to DS status. That's all these are I am pretty sure.

The magnets in Apogees aren't that strong and even in the day they weren't. But caution is advised especially if the grilles are off. Then you really do need to be VERY VERY careful. Just one moment of stupidity and you are in trouble with a damaged speaker.

Anyway, if you haven't connected them up, it looks like you have some cable that might do it. The stuff I have marked in red on the attached pic.

For each speaker, connect the bass black and red and tweeter black and red terminals to the spades at the end of the cable with four connectors. The black and red of one pair of spades to the black and red of the speaker connectors e.g. bass and then the same for the treble, matching the colours.

Then connect the end of the cable with the two spades to the left or right channel of the power amp, matching the colours. Colour matching is VERY important, or the speakers will be out of phase.

That's for normal bi-wire cable however it looks like you may not have normal bi-ware cable, but four pairs of connectors, two at each end? If so say so if you are confused?

This is what worries me.

Can you take some close ups of this speaker around the area I have highlighted?

Some basic tests of the speaker's health can be done using this and a pair of ears.

It's very easy to do, but can you connect a DAC and with a laptop to use it?

Online Tone Generator.

I just tried the Tone Generator on my television - an LG OLED.

85Hz is a complete disaster.

Basically all you do is move the slider with the volume quite loud. As soon as you hear a loss in purity of tone, you know you have a resonance problem.

Be careful you don't run too loud as you can damage some speaker systems with too much gain at LF. 85DB should be safe.

Any audiophile should do this test. It will find issues so fast you won't believe it. But I warn you you may not like the results.

Sorry for being so slow.

What is doing my head in looking at the pictures is that the bass panel clamps are quite plainly inside the perimeter of the front cover, and by quite a long way.

Take a look at the attached pictures. Although there's shadow, the clamps line up with the covers.

It is almost like the cover is incorrect for the speaker, or the bass clamps have been deliberately repositioned for some reason.

The pictures are quite low resolution so it is hard to tell, but the Kapton/foil bass ribbons look OK.

I will have a chat with the refurbisher to see what he thinks. He's seen far more pairs of Apogees than I ever have or will.

Actually did you get them up and running? Did you run the test I was talking about?

Also, my pics aren't that great just mobile phone pics, but they are good enough to show what I mean.

EDIT: it may just be the cover is to high for the frame for whatever reason. A picture of the bottom part of the bass panel would help determine that.

Post #37 is my refurbisher. We originally thought they were Duetta II with Sig upgrade but the extra pics obviously indicate otherwise.

Huh? Duetta I plus Sig upgrade. Don't see how that isn't clear.

Anyway, answer my questions?
