So my magazine arrived today, but the M2 is on the cover. What? Then I noticed it is Stereophile. Still waiting for the Absolute Sound.

Magico is a target because of their neverending series of speaker releases.

Magico was heavily criticised before they started producing so many different models. People don't seem to be bashing the lower A series as much. I don't quite get the neverending part. Is VPI criticized for this? I don't think so. No, I think it is something else.

Yeah, your speakers have a coherence top to bottom that most Martin Logan owners could only dream of. Your modified Berkeley DAC clearly performs considerably above stock. I've heard it all for myself.

Add to that list the magnetic stabilization of the VPI arm, which was so significant that Bob Graham made sure I was informed not to attempt to commercialize it. And then there is the platter-LP interface, and so many other significant changes.

Tom Cruise's agent likes Magico.

I'm old enough to remember when Mark Spitz came to the SAE factory to pick out his own gear.

@ack so I guess reading this your concern is with the review but , not the product or company itself ?

I’d assume that given you own electrostatics; that the “Magico “ sound or lack thereof would be a preference ?

My concern is with the oftentimes very evident review/manufacturer "fiasco" as I see it. This is one egregious case, and has become quite predictable. I love most of the Magico speakers that I have heard, and continue to be enamored with the Q series and most S

"Best of all, the M6 simply doesn’t have any shortcomings that one must consciously or unconsciously listen past."

Too funny, and full bullshit at the same time. Show me a speaker that in some areas cannot be bettered by other reproduction.

Lots of jealous people on this site. Maybe the M6 is the best at this time, but time, and technology, marches on. So, I have no problem with Magico releasing an even better speaker at some future time.

Oh c'mon bro. I like Magico speakers, a lot. But pointing out contra the ridiculous assertion of the review that any speaker, including Magico, has inevitable shortcomings, is jealousy? Perhaps that's what gives Magico a bad name, its FanBoys.

You forget the threads that nauseatingly slobber over every part of a Magico cabinet as if Alon has solved cold fusion. The Magico forum has 148 threads, by far one of the highest on the manufacturers sub-forum. That doesn't seem to equal loads of criticism, but plenty of fans!

There are various threads where posters crap on the AF0, WAMM, SAT tonearms, Dagostinos, footers, panzerholz, non-SET amps, non-horns, etc. Heck, dCS isn't exactly loved here either. Your current guide, ddk, craps on half the audiophile establishment in not so flattering terms (wall tampons). Amir and Blizzard crapped on anything non-Harman back in the old days. PeterB crapped on the "chaff" and was banned.

In short, there is lots of gear crapping on this forum - the nature of the beast given its title. Magico and Wilson are the high end's big boys, so perhaps they get more but hey that comes with the position. Wilson has been crapped on for decades - hasn't hurt business $1. Same with Bose - the poster child of negative sentiment.

Sorry, but I found your second line inappropriate and somewhat rude. I for one, admire audiophiles who modify, seek to discover, and push limits in order to make their systems perform better. Sometimes folks find benefit from simple things that are shared and which others have applied for the betterment of their own systems. That is what part of this hobby is all about. In Tasos' case, he was to my knowledge, the first to advocate that simple copper and/or metal mu foil shields can be extremely useful in preventing RFI and EMI noise in electronic circuits made by other manufacturers who typically overlook this type of shielding in their products. I've taken advantage of Tasos' reporting this and for less than 100 bucks, have applied this very frugal improvement to my own system with clear benefit. Remarks that such improvements "make up for the stuff you own" are simply ignorant, mean spirited and do nothing to foster the collegiality that I consider a strength of this forum. I get that you don't dig his gear or his efforts, but c'mon man, there's surely a more collegial way to say it.

Marty

Far enough on my second line but I expect more from ack and was trying to make a point.

.

Unfortunately, shortcomings are noticed by the subconscious of the owner.

This is a great point Al. I have never liked a Magico speaker at a show and have consistently found them cold and sterile. PeterA's Magico system is the opposite, very engaging and fun to listen to. It's my belief that Magico needs amplification on the warm side of neutral to make them perform to my tastes.

Ditto here as well--I attended the CES full setup initial launch of the Brand with a good friend --I sat in the front row and listened intently( cannot recall whether it was Boulder or Classe Amps but it was a Server as they could not play my CD) I must have twitched my nose or something because Mr Wolf came up to me and demanded I leave the room immediately -WTF?--I sorta didn't mind as I found the speaker irritating frankly
Haven't heard them much better since --not for me.

Oh yes my "good friend " was Ricardo from AbSound UK whom I've known for over 35 Years he implored me to stay but nope-I waited outside in the hall way--AbSound liked what he heard and carries the brand today--so this only goes to prove
We all hear different -Ricardo liked them immensly as does our esteemed gentleman here Peter A where I'm sure they perform superbly.

Mr. Wolf designed the Sondek CD12 which I've owned so I give him Kudos for that;)

That's surprising, Alon Wolf as digital designer? Do you have a source for that?
