I noticed the same thing, thanks for making the point.

Good morning to all

Here in the USA we are on the other side of the world where all of you have been discussing politics on this thread all night when we don't have moderators, so Tang and Rob,I am here to tell you that you are wrong in your assumption

I am here to tell you that if one more political post is made this thread will be permanently closed.

This thread IMO has come totally out of control and has blossomed quicker than the virus itself

Steve, everyone's enjoying here. Tang should never have pointed this out now our fun is gone

As I explain to my Dutch wife who is not accustomed to a national president and state governors and county executives and city mayors and town supervisors . . . it is not easy to impose uniform rules upon such a complicated and decentralized governmental structure.
I do get it but here in Florida its crazy that they close Miami and Fort Lauderdale beaches and restaurants and 5 minutes North of me the Casino and Strip Clubs are having St. Patricks Day parties they are advertising

We will hear later today of US and UK Govt measures to protect the economy.
Already though it is clear that in most countries there will be massive consequences. In the UK it is almost certain that we will have to move to a wartime economy and in the rest of Europe and the USA too. Huge implications for taxation policy and the role of public services.
It is already clear that it will be impossible in current circumstances to reach a new UK/EU trade deal by June as intended. UK law requires UK to leave the EU by 31 December 2020 deal or no deal. No longer seems credible but UK Govt as recently as 10 days ago still saying we will leave on 31/12 but have refrained from recent comment. A real hot potato with very big politcal and economic connotations.

Thank you for pointing this out, Tang. Steve and I and the moderators agree with you!

I cannot monitor the thread 24 hours a day continuously, so I apologize for not seeing this and letting it slip through.

The perpetrators have been warned formally.

But we will not be discussing those connotations here. Thank you.

You realize he was not asking you to do that, quite the other way round

His point is correct and valid in both directions.

This is lack of leadership on a fegeral level. In other countries most of those measures are imposed nationwide. In the US each state / city tries to act on their own, due to the lack of action from the WH.

This is not meant to be political - I'm just stating the reasons for what we see.

Whether a post is meant to be political or not is wholly irrelevant. Intention is not a factor in the analysis. This is a political post and it is not permissible.

Specifically, criticizing the White House is impermissible politics, just as criticizing the speaker of the House of Representatives would be impermissible politics.

Thank you for abiding by our Terms of Service.

In Poland 3M N95 masks that used to sell for $1.5 go for $30 right now. And people are buying.

What lack of action is this by Trump? Please be specific.
How about opening a pm thread where you guys, and maybe additional
people could voice their opinions without provoking Ron’s political sensitivities ? It’s probably going to drive Bob the last 2 inches of the ledge if this thread gets closed o_O

Can we just admit that, when it comes to this new pandemic, governments worldwide are guessing at the best course of action. More authoritarian ones power moves are expected, those more geared to personal liberty strong actions will have detractors. Politics aught not to be part of it but inevitable. Those promoting the-sky-is-falling mentality end up promoting fear and anxiety, others argue for a more reasoned response yet hard to know which is right if you know someone directly affected. And directly affected is all of us now with shut-downs in place.

For a time, our ways of moving in the world are vastly changed. But as always, this too will pass.

And, as always, live, love, laugh, enjoy good music, hug your wife (with hazmat suit!), pet your dog or cat. Do those things that give you comfort/joy.

If you're virus free, stop by for a glass of wine and some tunes! I promise to limit the crowd size!
