Hello Ron! In my old room (5x5 m) It was quite easy because I had big problems with 80,60 and 31.5 Hz due to the room measurements. Now in the new room (8x4.6 m) its less power in my problem areas but more Of them. IF you know the problem areas its no problem to adjust them. I use 8 varitunes4 and 3 varitunes6. I use pink noise to notice the problemareas, and then I adjust just the offending frequency.
Thank you very much!
Do you know by approximately how many decibels the adjustment can reduce a frequency peak?
Yes its way bigger. It streches from listeningposition to s little bit behind the speakers. Sideways its 3 m and the distance between the speakers are about 3.3 m. The more the betterHi Krelle, surely that area of ceiling treatment is way bigger than reflection points zones.
It is perfectly possible to replicate an SMT helmholtz resonator. Only, when getting it right and with a proper outer finish you might end up with spending as much as a new unit which are not that expensive...I did a DIY version of SMT Varitunes and it was somewhat effective in my setup. Also, in the video you're measuring and "tuning" the Varitunes right in front of it, what counts is at the listening seat as there are many interactions that culminate into what you hear once you sit. So what you measure in the video is not what you'll necessarily hear at the sweet spot.

Regarding the tuning: it has to be done at the varitune as that is located near the room boundaries which is where the problems are. These issues (and their harmonics) get projected into the room. So at your listening seat, you will benefit not only from the solution given to the problematic frequency but its 2nd and 3rd harmonics as well, providing you did the tuning properly, located the resonator at the right spot and have sufficient of them compared to the peak level you want to remedy.
Hej Krelle,Hello again! Its boen a while since I wrote. I have upgraded speakers and dac. A lot of Luna cables too. They are the best I have Tried in my system! And I have tried alot.
The Dac is the Omega Audioconcepts DNA Dac. Its a realy great dac. I use alot of SMT acoustics. And to really use the acoustics to the full I have bought new speakers. Its the Audionec evo 1. I use them With 4 Rel-subs. These speakers are so allround and natural sounding. Im blown away! I use a extra supertweeter on the top that play booth front and back just like the midrange on the Audionecs. I get a very airy, big scene. Just like I want it to be.
