Hi Shakti

are the Sikora motors BLDC or AC synchronous?
if they are AC synchronous it means that the DC power is then converted to AC, as it was happening with my old Phoenix Eagle power supply and Hirst motors.
if they are BLDC how the speed is being controlled?

As said, I do run my J Sikora Reference with a Keces P8, so they are 24v DC
(motor is 4 times Pabst, controller is separate)

How the speed speed is being controlled with your DC motors ? through Hall sensors?

When are audiophiles going to realize they are paying exorbitant prices for LPS units that are not the equal of a good HP or Agilent industrial power supply?

Oversized, good sounding transformers, chokes, low noise rectification, good sounding capacitors and resistors, good sounding connectors and very importantly - wire is what makes a great sounding audio supply. Lab equipment understandably pays no attention to any of these and instead offers useless flexibility, programmability and a bullet proof design. Neither one is a good substitute for the other.

I do not know, you may ask J Sikora company.
Mostly the Pabst motor is installed without sensor.

I certainly agree when it comes for PSUs used for preamps, front end components, etc.
Do you think it’s equally relevant with respect to TT motor PS?
simply yes.

The degree of relevance depends upon the type of motor. A brushed DC motor is as sensitive to the raw dc supply as any other audio component. Brushless DC (BLDC) or AC motors may use class D amps and dc:dc converters in their control circuits. A great linear power supply cannot be of much help in such cases. Impossible to generalise.

The original one can be bettered, so I asked DERAINER to do a better one as option :)
Are you still using this motor Jürgen ? Don’t worry i won’t take a NO as a bad judgment of the product, i know you change equipment like a playboy changes women ;)

Currently I do not own a turntable to work with the Dereneville Motor. So the answer is "No"

Vienna, are you using the Condor motor and controller that Phoenix made for SOTA ?

Hi Lagonda,
this is a completely different project with different Anaheim motors than those of SOTA and different amplifiers. I will present it shortly with details.

i had the chance to compare AC synchronous and BLDC Motors Driven by Class D and High Biased Class AB amplifiers with linear and switching PSU and the linear PSU was always making a noticeable improvement.
In detail when I got the Phoenix Engineering Eagle (class d amp) and Roadrunner (to drive the two Hurst Ac synchronous Motors)- it came with a quality switching PSU. The Keces P8 made a great improvement.
later with the BLDC motors, driven by Class D and Class Ab amp I could hear again the improvement between the class AB and Class D and always the further improvement when using the Keces P8

If you have the TT on the same outlet as your preamp/phono part of the problem is the noise the switch modes are making.

They are connected on different power outlets and different Torus isolation transformers

Thank you for the write up.
I’ll have a chance to compare Keces P8 and Hewlett-Packard E3616A Marty had suggested, as I purchased both.

I think that you will like acoustically both, however I believe you will like the P8 aesthetics more.

Interesting. Ironically, i did not test the Phoenix box with a linear supply and promptly let it go after the briefest attempt to use it. Perhaps what i was hearing was the result of the switcher.

that’s a shame because Eagle is very rare right now.
