Yes mistakes were made on "our" side a

Just something to maybe consider, as a moderator your above statement 'our side" might leave some to doubt whether or not the moderation will be unbiased and impartial. I expect that you don't want to leave unintended perceptions of that. Anyway, good luck moving forward.

Thanks for the feedback its a fair point, and I will keep it in mind. I am moderating a Manufacturer's forum, and the kerfuffle was giving the moderation power directly to the manufacturer instead of the site owners had already drawn the metaphorical line in the sand for the posters. I also realize that I am going to bring some bias to the table I just hope that I can show posters that I am fair and even-handed. Hopefully, I can scrub the line away in the future.

Just because I don't think I have explicitly stated it anywhere, I won't tolerate bashing other manufacturers' products either. I can take posts like I preferred the Devilles over XXXX speakers but I feel doing iFixit style tear-aparts is constructive unless it's done to illustrate how things work as opposed to how much $$$ the designer is making. There are plenty of other landing spots for those discussions.

The post I deleted referred to people deserving each other. It was a one-line post that had nothing to do with the topic. As I have stated earlier, I am willing to entertain reframing the posts I delete in a form that will improve the discussion in a positive manner.

Ahhh I see … well striding forth into this brave new world as mere proletarian members of this previously open forum there seems to me no singular impediment within the forum rules upon beginning a thread outside of your ring fenced little world to comment upon content within your self contained manufactures bubble. God bless free speech.

@Steve Williams, I have a question that is not about an imagined situation. I asked it previously but it was not answered by the announcer of these.

How will sponsored manufacturer forums be identified?

asked and answered Tim. Do you not read the posts or are you having a senior moment

It's in it's own category. I don't know how obvious you need it along with the title, I believe you'll have everything that even you will be able to figure out

I would like to make some clarifications to make sure we are on the same page.

1. This forum/thread is completely our of my control. No matter what you say I cannot censor/modify/delete. The site has other moderators for that. I have only been given oversight of our single Manufacturers Forum from which I have laid out my current ground rules. Please let me know if I haven't been clear enough

2. I would hope that any questions or curiosities that you have about our company would be asked in our forum and will be afforded every courtesy of a civil reply for a civil question.

3. You do realize that you have "free speech" to lob your Holy Hand Grenades of Antoch at will within the site rules.

Tim,

If you are like me you rarely see the "index??" page for the site. They have all these discussions divided into their own sub-forums. If you navigate to that main page you have to scroll way down but you can find us, currently alone in the sandbox. Also if you look at the threads before you enter you can see what sub forum they are a part of. Yeah before this I rarely cared as I didn't start too many threads.

As I stated yesterday and reinforced by Folsom this practice is common in many forums and just doesn't pose a problem (...)

Yes, Steve, it is a practice that is common in many other forums. But in part what separated WBF from all these forums was the ability to discuss audio subjects in freedom and this created the condition to many interesting discussions and digging in challenging and even obscure audio subjects.

Surely your forum, your rules. IMHO this will create a forum similar to many others - several times we expressed pride in being different from others and the freedom of this forum. But times change - probably many people will be happy to accept such practices under the control of the industry and dealers. When I read people asking for two color forums and discrimination clear evidence I feel sad. But I can foresee that soon MoFi will create a very successful sponsored manufacturer sub-forum in WBF.

Have you read a single word that beau has even posted. I doubt it. As usual you continue to drift so a reply to you is meaningless. Read beau's posts and have a little faith Francisco. You're just being your usual self

I have failed to see any support coming from you Tim. Your question frankly has been asked and answered

Wow Steve, you're really on a roll. Marc, park your suppositions. Tim, you're having a senior moment. Francisco, you're off on one as usual.
Making friends and influencing people, I'm impressed.

You're right Marc and apologies are due. It is tough answering the same questions over and over so yes, to Tim and Francisco my sincere apology and of course to you as well Marc.

Sure Steve. You just ought to know that the feeling the free spirited ethos of the forum is at risk is a genuine concern, encapsulated best by Mike Lavigne. I'm afraid nothing you can say at this point really changes that. Very many of us have taken the withdrawal of Audiophile Bill as a member very personally, for me both as a friend, and totally impressive audiophile and person. And for me that's indelibly linked to this move that I consider makes the forum into something it wasn't before.
Good luck with the change.

I am upset about this too!

Steve, what you said was that these posts will "be in it's own category".

looking at the 'new post' and 'latest activity' feeds, there is nothing to differentiate these posts.

and then going to this 'Manufacturer Sponsored User Group forums", again, only in the title up at the thread top does it say this. clicking on a post in feeds half the time you don't even see that. and nowhere does it mention the moderation difference.

not obvious these posts are "in it's own category".

my question is will this be how it is? i'm assuming this is the plan, and if you confirm that; trust me i will not go here again. i wanted to make sure i was not missing something. a single word 'yes' is perfectly fine.

i apologize profusely if you have already answered this question with the specifics of my question.
