I thought it was readily apparent. Guess not. Go back and re-read the post that Amir was responding to when I quoted Amir's response. If you still have questions, please let me know.
Steve-These are all words I didn't think I would ever see from you, but they are the truth. Amir started this thread with what appeared to be good intentions at first. What I thought was supposed to be a learning experience for Amir with possibly a dose of contrition turned out to be more of...
Let's set the record straight Amir, you made it personal. I could care less whether someone criticizes a review I write because I might actually learn something from constructive criticism. I expect to be criticized and said that the first time I posted a link to a review I wrote on WBF...
Amir-picking a coin toss correctly is a 50/50 proposition. If you can correctly guess a coin toss 5 out of 5 times, you need to go to Vegas ASAP and play roulette. Just quit after your first 5 correct choices since it can't be repeated.
I don't care if there were a 1,000 people in the room. MF got 5/5 right and JA got 4/5 right. If it was revealing enough for them, why not AES members?
That I don't have enough information about how the test was conducted and what speakers were chosen and why this test was graded so...
Caelin-I agree with what you are saying because it's the truth as I know it. The flip side of that is people who claim to have extreme technical competence and want to say ad nauseam that everything we hear can be measured and therefore we know everything which is complete nonsense.
Interesting poll for you of all people to start. How could you possibly know the answer to your poll question? You have no turntable, arm, or cartridge in your system right?
I would argue that if his walls were built by some boy scouts instead of carpenters and they were trying to save money from their light bulb sale and put the 2 x 4 studs 24" on center, he's better off tearing it down and starting over.
The point that you either missed or glossed over is that AES members couldn't tell the difference between a SS amp and tube amp under DBTconditions. Does that not say something? Does anybody really think a Crown DC amp and a VTL sounded identical?? Really?
So you don't want to include...
From http://www.analogplanet.com/content/im-appalled-way-you-treat-your-readership:
AES members couldn't tell a Crown DC amp from a VTL amp and yet Mikey picked 5 out of 5 amps correctly and JA got 4/5 correct. Did that satisfy anyone? Apparently not. The beatings continue.
They are already there and think you are delusional because you think you do hear a difference-trust me. We have so many amplifiers of different classes available. Class A (which in Pure Class A form are really much more rare than all other classes), Class A/B (which has been the dominant...
