My only concern would be if the paper drivers have dried out.
If I didn’t have the Pendragons I would buy this purportedly virtually NOS Statement E2. I am totally serious.
If the Statement E2 had been a current production product in 2016, I probably never would’ve discovered the Pendragons – – I would’ve just ordered without hesitation the Statement E2 (and a second pair of VTL Siegfried IIs).
The woofer towers alone are worth $25,000, I think!

If they were consistently stored in a climate controlled environment all of these years, it would be worth purchasing a plane ticket to inspect. If I had the wall space I would consider them.

This is something I truly have never understood about vintage speakers with paper drivers.
Is there a concern about paper drivers and rubber surrounds like the ones in the Statement E2 drying out after decades? If not, why not?

I would, however, need to add another amp into the system for those sub towers.
Someone got into his ear. When these were first listed, they were priced at $16,000. Even at $25k they're still a steal; if they are in the condition he states.
The only replacement panel that Martin Logan no longer makes, to my knowledge, is the Logos and possibly the original Statement. I had purchased new panels for my Prodigy speakers from ML two years ago. Other than the long wait time to have them produced, they are spectacular.
Well, these are good news. Can I ask what was the price of Prodigy panels? I had great sound with the Prodigy's driven by an Electrocompaniet AW250 DMB - probably some of the best sound quality for money ratio I have owned.
I loved my VTL MB-750s (always in triode mode) on Prodigys for 18 years. But I dreamed of Statement E2!
Well, as long as you have the audiotech support for them...you could fly out with the audiotech, inspect them properly for a few days straight...test them, run them hard. How much would that cost in the context of this set? 5K-7K including any manner of manpower to set them up, get some temporary space to set them up. You're still ahead, but its a lot of brain damage...and still the risk of repairs some day. At the same time, if they are mint, good golly...that is quite a rare find, and given your history with ML...that could be you done.

And I still have trouble getting comfortable with paper drivers that are 30, 40, 50 years old. It doesn’t seem to be a problem in the vintage speakers loved by our vintage speaker members, so my concern must be unfounded. But I don’t understand it.
As you know MartinLogan now is owned by a venture-capital company. I can’t imagine any senior executive there has the interest to support a one-off possible restoration project.
But the biggest concern would be replacement of the electrostatic panels. A prospective purchaser would have to nail down with MartinLogan that replacement panels could be ordered on a special order basis.

Two years ago, I paid $2840 delivered. I believe the price has increased in the last year. It was the best value/benefit purchase I’ve made since I bought a new set of reQuest for $2200 in 1997. Those speakers had a spectacular mid-range.
JC1+ would serve well with their huge current output. Or Sanders Magtech monos would work well.
