The best sounds I have heard from AG speakers has been low powered tubes, either SET or PP triode…period. IMO, pure SS need not apply to a 109dB speaker.

at Axpona 2024 a month ago i heard the Mezzo's with both the itron and Phsemation 211's on different days, and both were well behaved......fully listenable on piano and violin. reasonably balanced. based on that brief exposure, i might be able to live with the itron. maybe the Phasemation was a slight bit too tubey? but maybe not. maybe just right with longer demo time?
i know that Jacob prefers the dart 468's on the Trio's so far......and he has tried a few tube amps on them and also has the itron on hand.

+1 (for "breath of life" tube people)
But for people who don't prioritize the "breath of life" tube thing the iTron achieves an immediacy and instantaneous, explosive dynamics which many people will be astounded by.
Yes, my recollection of Jacob's review of AG Trio G3s was that he was quite clear about his slightly critical conclusions about the sound he got from SET tubes that he tried with the AG Trios in his system vs his Dartzeel 468s.
