What is new in my music library? (recent purchases I enjoy)

der.jpg"The Ensemble Hofkapelle Munich, under the direction of expert Rüdiger Lotter, presents the first excellent and historically sound recording of the opera "The Stone of Wise Men or: the Magic Island". The opera is considered to be the forerunner of W.A. Mozart's celebrated masterpiece "The Magic Flute", with a libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder, who was later to write the libretto for "The Magic Flute". This opera was not written by one, but by four composers, including Mozart. It was not until 1996 that a copy of the score of "The Philosopher's Stone" was rediscovered, in which the copyist named the authors of the respective compositions, a sensation. This was discovered, for example, that Mozart's famous cat duet K. 625 actually comes from the "Sorcerer's Stone". The many musical and stylistic parallels between numerous passages from "Der Stein der Weisen" and similar moments from the "Magic Flute" indicate that Mozart was inspired not only for his opera by his own ideas, but also by those of all other participants. The history of the opera goes back to a collection of fairy tales by Christoph Martin Wieland and tells of two hostile brothers, the demigod Astromonte, who rules over Arcadia, and Eutifronte, who rules the underworld, as well as two love couples who get between the fronts. The solo roles are made up of a refreshing mix of well-known singers such as the starting director Michael Schade, young stars such as tenor Kai Kluge and baritone Jonas Müller and from prize winners of international competitions such as the soprano Leonor Amaral. The numerous choral scenes of the work were taken over by the Chor der KlangVerwaltung. An exciting and sonorous new replay of this little-known musical jewel."
