Abbas dac 2.1 se

Wow! Quite the output stage.
Agree 100% with you Russ. When I wrote earlier that 95% of the attention and effort was directed internally I meant that.

He does all of this tedious work (Including confirming proper wire and parts orientation) himself. Look at that power supply section seperated by the partition.

Easy to understand the 3 month built timeframe. I heard from Abbas a short while ago. He will construct my 3 cables tomorrow. Then finally all will be ready for shipment. So eager am I to to hear this 3.2SE.

...also waiting.. hopefully done by next month :-(
My order was placed in Sep.
I placed my order the first week of September. I believe around that time he received 4 to5 orders for either 3.2SE or Signature version in close proximity. No doubt its kept him busy.

Abbas informed me earlier today that he’s completed my cables. He plans to ship them and the DAC next week. @gerihifi I hope this means that you are next in line.

I asked Abbas about details of the new case and whether it affects only my Signature, or other models. He answered that - there are double wide bridges on the sides, double bottom under the transformers 2mm instead of 1mm, such a case will now be for all 3.2s.

Are they being utilized now for the 3.2 units or to be implemented in the near future? I understand that you will receive this heavier case. I am inquiring about other recent builds. Anyway a good move even if mine wasn’t included.

details of the new case

The heavier case build will surely help in transport to destination also..
Im familiar with the excellent packaging from Abbas. His growing global community will be grateful! The obvious added noise and thermal protection it will provide is the main purpose but double skined sides are going to make that frame enjoyably rigid.
Happy with the Noctua fan, installed some in an old pc agree a very good fan.

Abbas told me already in September that he ordered thicker cases. He wrote me in December that the thicker cases have arrived. It is very likely that these cases are already used.

Thanks for providing this additional information. If my DAC has the heavier case, nice! 4 differences with new versus earlier 3.2SE models.

1 Noctua cooling fan installed.
2. Metal partition separating transformers/chokes from the circuit section.
3 Addition of the 5Y3 rectifier tube for the 6080 output stage (7 tubes total up from 6 previously).
4 Heavier chassis case.

Refinements to an already well implemented DAC.

I received an email from Abbas a short while ago.Another Russian attack “everything shut down currently “.

May be a slight delay in shipping. He said he can only ship on the safest days. I responded, of course I understand this. His and his family’s safety are highest concern.Audio can wait.

So 1week or 1 month, whatever unfolds.I knew that this was a possibility when I ordered. I have no regrets. Actually, I am so impressed that he gets as much done as he does under active war conditions.
Charles

It is beyond my imagination that Abbas has the ability to build DACs for us under such conditions.
Just watched the news here in Germany and again a very, very said for ukrainian's! Massive attack again by russi*n missiles...

I just hope, that Abbas get a bit distracted with his fantastic work and some day all his hard work pays back!!

wooden case audio components were discussed.

Thanks Charles, Interesting, particularly the wooden core transformers. I had the feeling that Abbas had used some OPT's with wooden core? cant see immediately that it is the GD Audio so I may be wrong.

While looking came upon this special ready to go a 2.4SE repaired ready to go at a reduced price.:D

Complete with GD transformers and 6SN7 output stage. May be already gone?
Anyone who is interested should move on this one.

That’s my old one. It’s essentially new.

I mostly listen to vinyl but I played the Abbas yesterday for the first time in a while. Sounded great feeding it from CEC TL1.
