Alarming news about Tidal

No, you missed my point. I haven't said anything about whether Tidal is viable. Initially I said Qobuz should have been mentioned in the article, then responded to you that Qobuz doesn't need a big market share to be a successful enterprise.
In the US market Spotify, Apple, Amazon, YouTube and Pandora have 99% of the market. Why would you bother to talk about some small piece of 1% of the market?

Qobuz is either receiving additional investment or doesn’t have to pay the labels minimum fees to stream their music. Those are the only way they can stay in business.

I only purchase physical media. The only streaming that I do is either off of YouTube or from the My Tuner app that I have on my cell phone.

I knew at some point those that did streaming as their primary source were going to have issues sooner or later. Hard drives can also be corrupted potentially causing a complete loss of all downloads.
That is why if one has a large hard drive based music library, then one MUST have back-ups, both physical and online :)

My 15 TB of music is almost bomb-proof... NAS in raid 5 and backup copy in another hard disk plus 4 other friends have the same files protected always with NAS in raid 5 and backup copies in another hard disk. In total we have 4 NAS in raid 5 and four backup hard disks...... you would have to be very very unlucky to stay in your underwear
