Analog video "sunset"

Very interesting, Amir. If I read rightly, it does not apply to analog audio outputs, just video, yes? I am a little surprised they restricted VGA outputs, however, as "VGA" seems to have grown well beyond its 480p roots in PCs. Even for BDs, why restrict? In the long run it won't matter, as manufacturers quit supprting it, but I am not sure why they felt the need to mandate that one.

Given the number of older TV sets (we have a couple in our house) there's likely to be a run on last year's BD players this year...

There are already component HD analog capture solutions. They are available as uncompressed and compressed capture solutions with the latter being pretty cheap these days (a couple of hundred dollars). This is called "analog hole" is what the studios like to plug.

And no, analog audio is not impacted.
