Any ECM Records fans here?

I have may be around a 100 ECM titles, listen to them all the time. I would have to rank Anouar Brahem as my #1 ranked recording artist on ECM, but it is hard to go wrong with anything released on the label.

For a long time Astrakan Cafe was my Brahem favorite. But slowly but firmly the intrinsic beauty of Le Pas du Chat Noir displaced it.

They are all beautiful and unique in their own right. First heard him in an oriental furniture store in London "barzakh". Rushed to the counter asked what was playing and have bought everything he released ever since.

And who in their right or wrong mind could forget this?

Bob,
Do you have the Blue Note sessions? These 1994 trio recordings, carried in three successive nights, are IMHO some of his best.

I would have to search Francisco, as I have so many Keith Jarrett recordings. ...This one could even be on one of my CD-Rs.

Carla Bley, I got few but not that one above. ...I should!

________

By the way, also a huge Anouar Brahem and Dhafer Youssef's fan here. * Youssef is on the Enja, Justin Time, Jazzland, ... record labels though.

If you don't know him, you're gonna love Abou Khalil. Less introspective than
Brahem, and heavy on percussion, but fantastic stuff. Pick up a copy of 'blue camel' first.

I have quite a bit of Abou-Khalil's stuff; I almost don't consider it "Middle Eastern", certainly not in the same sense as Brahem. It often sounds just like hard bop with one of the instruments being the oud.
