I'm a bit dumbfounded at this point having spent tens of thousands (actually hundreds!!) on a home 2-ch system. Siltech Emperor Crown cables, as I recall, retail at nearly $40k USD and are supposedly fabulous. That is many times more than what MANY music lovers spend on their entire systems!!! Is it even possible that ANY cable manufacturer can create a "unique proprietary" build strategy that will in fact 'blow away' the competition at this level? Obviously, no retailers are 'loaning out' $40k cables for the weekend. So how does one make an intelligent decision, based on apples to apples comparisons, WITHOUT having an opportunity to test different cables (one pair at a time) in their own system?? Comparison tests are entirely meaningless if more than one variable/component is altered in the comparison process. Tough decisions ahead.
NOTE: I make these comments in the context that I'm considering an expensive speaker cable upgrade in the price range that you present above. And frankly, despite owning a 2-ch system valued to a Ferrari, I'm less comfortable (this time) pulling the trigger on such a purchase....not many buyers in the second hand market looking to spend big big money on cables.
