Audiophile Fuses

Well, this is a much nicer forum than some Audiogon and superior to ASR (where many posters and myself were definitely considered uneducated, deaf and had money to burn-we were all banned from the site). There are some older gentlemen who don't like to hear negativity but generally I enjoy hearing about great equipment. I also write on sites concerning great music and recordings. That's my forte.

SR HFTs mentioned. With my inferior Legacy Focus speakers, I installed 38 HFTs on speakers and all around the custom built listening room. When I switched out to my Signature IIIs, the rear wall and some of the front wall HFTs were removed (plenty of ambiance and open sound). The with my Von Schweikert VR9 SE Mk2, no need for them as the dispersion is fantastic. So, HFTs can improve a problematic system but not necessarily a properly designed system. I still have one acoustic tweak, Shakti Hallographs in the front wall corners and mid-room walls. This room also has OEM fuses in higher end equipment.

Yes, the moderators and users try to keep WBF threads headed in the right direction. Agon is much looser and so discussions there are more apt to go astray quickly. It’s too bad.

You might be interested in the Heartsound Holostages thread on WBF, if you haven’t seen it. I’m going to give them a try. As for HFT’s, I found they denigrated my system and sent them back.

Well, that's what happened with HFTs once I installed superior speakers and equipment.
Actually, the most heated and overwrought audiogon forums involved, ASR and Amir with two or three of my posts and another garnering about 3500 posts overall. Amir just can't help himself. A few ASR posters and Amir beat the topics of blind testing, testing versus hearing, etc. to death.

Heartsounds Holostages by Krissy Tetrault. She is a lovely person. However, I my friends and I had 14 of her husband's prior kitchen magnets, cards, fluid solution and other products. Unfortunately, they did not enhance sound uniformly for us. One late friend loved the products and smeared the solution version throughout all his contacts, on his circuit boards and speakers. I also stay away from Synergistic Research similar products, reportedly a rip off of Krissy's husband's work.

Got a reply back from Synergistic research. They said to put a Master fuse in my integrated amp in the basement, and a master in my Main floor Dac. I will start there, and from what i read, they will work well with the orange fuses i have. I will decide if i will upgrade to Pink?

The Pink fuses initially took me on a bit of a ride as they were burning in. After about two weeks though I got a good taste of how good things can sound. I’m guessing the Master might be the same way.

For the Brits on the forum I came across the following UK mains rated aftermarket fuse , which claims to be ( from the images ) BS 1362 compliant .
Caviat Emptor , I know nothing about these fuses other than the info on the traders website , If you choose to try them , then that is entirely your own responsibility.

Addendum . A little further information from the manufacturer https://www.connected-fidelity.com/connected-fidelity-cf-fuses

Well in a strange turn of events, i decided to just jump in and upgrade all of the fuses. This was the best way to get the best pricing. So i will install the Master fuse in my Sugden IA-4 amp in the basement, and then pink fuses in the rest of the gear. So Aqua DAC, Saturn Power conditioner and Audiolab 9000 CDT. This is my second system in the basement. I will install the other master on my main system DAC and then in 2 weeks replace the rest with pink. This will be the last fuse upgrade for me.

I will start with the master only with the orange fuses and let that play then after i will introduce the pinks and do some back to back testing in intervals.

Well first impressions are very good. I put in the Master in My sudden integrated, and it sounded great out of the box, a big difference over the orange fuse that was in there. From there, I installed the pink in my Saturn power conditioner. That set the tone for sure. Everything seemed bolder, sharper presentation. I then added in the pink fuses for my DAC and CDT. The soundstage got deeper, warmer more musical if you will. I felt like I was at a live concert.

I did some looking at my main system, the Sugden mono blocks etc. I went to install the master fuse in my DAC, and to my surprise there was a purple fuse in it? I don’t recall changing that? Any way the master in the dac was a beautiful addition. I put that purple fuse in my Phono stage, and I am very satisfied with the sound of that purple in the phono.

I will order pinks for the rest of my components.

The noise is completely gone, I am surprised at how natural the systems sound now. I can hardly wait to get the pinks in the rest of my main system.

It's crazy how the stage presence changed. When I listen to Blues, the singers vocals became more dominant and in the centre of the stage.

Second order showed up, my main system is now updated.

Due to availability, I ended up with the following.

Purple fuses in both mono blocks.
purple fuse in Phono stage
Master fuse in DAC.
Pink fuse in CDT, PRE Amp, And Power conditioner.

System completely dead quiet, more bold, more present. Spacial separation is increased. Sounds like a new sound board guy was hired for the concert to be honest. The mix and volume is very pleasant.

I am really liking the Telos Audio Quantum X2 fuses. They do a quantum conditioning process, perhaps similar to what SR and QSA do. But they are very reasonably priced, under 100 USD each.
So most fuses that are voltage conditioned are directional, and the direction is usually audible as better/worse.

The Telos fuses are different, and can fool you as the wrong direction can at first seem good.
The 'wrong' direction has great clarity and detail, better treble e.t.c But it sounds hi-fi. It's still way better than the stock fuse.

But reverse it to the 'correct' conditioned direction, and you get a totally different sound - organic, beautiful and natural presentation. The bass goes deeper, and there is more depth into the soundstage, more background detail, but also more relaxed and less fatigue.

I have experienced these different Telos X2 sound signatures on multiple components now, including recently on my audiophile switch. So its pretty distinct IMO and should be easy to hear when reversing the fuse. I asked the opinion of my local Telos dealer and he described those characteristics himself without me even prompting him.

So if you are after that type of sound at a very reasonable price, check out the Telos X2. I went up the SR line step by step from SR20 to BLUE, and the X2 trounces Blue, but obviously I do not know how well the X2 compares to Orange/Purple. Perhaps it is only better considering price.
