Hi Wizard...thanks for posting. I was trying to identify all the equipment...Boulder 2110, XLF, Shunyata Hydra, DCS Vivaldi, Sonos player?, Meridian???, cannot quite see. What is preamp? Purist Audio speaker cables? Thanks for any clarification.

Yeah i'd have to agree on the speaker placement...and the casters...something seems off here...maybe he/she rolls the speakers out to the end of the tape? But you'll be able to hear every cm or two movement front to back on those speakers...and easily the casters/vs spikes....just don't understand why you drop that kind of coin and not set up very well...
To be fair...if they still have the tape on the floor (and not spiked either), this might be a setup in process. I certainly don't keep the tape on the floor after setup, and the casters are safely in the drawer.
I like the looks of the 2160 more then the 2060 , I never liked the look of those black powdercoated top /back plates .

I find the policy Boulder has approached the realease of new products according to is very confusing. First there was the 2000 series. From what I understand there has been a number of revision to this line over the years but none have made Boulder start an upgraded line called 2110 or 3000 until all of a sudden they released the 3050 amplifiers. Then one would assume that it would have been natural to follow up and release upgraded products of the rest of the 2000 line as a 3000 line, but no that is not what Boulder did. Instead the they only released the 3060 in the 3000 series and then started releasing products in a new line they called 2110. On top of that they don't even have plans to upgrade all products in the old 2000 line to be released in the 2110 line either. For instance the 2008 seems to have to remain a 2008 without any plans to become a 2108 or a 3008.
To a customer like me this seems like a mess. Normally I would see through the hiearchy of models in the producers lines what is their top of the line products, what is their second best and so on, but with Boulder products this is not so easy without actually comparing them directly. I think Boulder should clear up this mess and make a product naming system and organize those models into product lines which give meaning to the customer when they are about to evaluate their products.

I agree with the odd roll out of new products. I think you have to take into account the production capacity at Boulder. I don't think they could handle a whole series upgrade for their products. I imagine they focus r&d as they wish and then make changes only when ready and then only to products that are popular enough to merit the changes from an order perspective.
Boulder keeps it simple , they only bring out something new if they have discovered an upgrade (something better ) , instead of introducing a new product on bla bla marketing as happens quite often in the hifi scene .
Its simple the 3000 series is currently the best , beyond that the 2000 series and 1000 series the 2100 series are a revised upgraded 2000 series probably , with new technology derived from developing the 3050 statement amps .
I still miss my boulder amp , it sets the standard in gorgeous built audio equipment imo it sounds damn good to .
Although the zanden gives extraordinairy bass , the supercontrolled Boulder 1060 couldnt be beat with electronic music , the best Trance/ house music amp i ve ever listened too
But i also have a weak spot for cnc machining
