Capital AudioFest 2024

Thanks i use what’s app for workers very effective.
Thanks for the heads up lets see if they let me in lol.
Bach is beyond typical dsp
It’s like servo dsp
They will let you in. Don't say you know me.:)
I dropped out. I am not into DSP in a Jesus Loves You way. I am thinking it would be interesting to try when multi-amping. And maybe it is a superior format over analog caps, chokes, resistor crossover. Not sure. But I don't need 30 people telling me I'm an idiot for not embracing it as the only way to setup a stereo. Especially with analog front end components. You will get that there.
And really, I'm not that into BACCH when I hear it. I am honestly a lot more interested in the active room correction software ORC that is part of the package. Especially with my digital front end. Very easy to set up speakers with it. Just run a room sweep and it does a very good job integrating subs and main speakers.

Please enjoy my interview with Ofra Gershman of Gershman Acoustics about the 30th Anniversary Black Swan loudspeaker:

Great interview Ron. I enjoy the questions you pose and she had good answers
that room was a good room and big too.
This room was next to two VPI rooms
All were great really.

Are you aware there is an ignore button?

Hahahaha very well said so may I ask how long did you last ?
there is a place for dsp but I am not sure it’s for playback in the entire sound.
to me bacch is a powerful tool to use but not a complete playback experience.
now having said this it’s fine if one likes it
like home theater applications.
I had fun in the main bacch room there the man there was very friendly and allowed me
To make some adjustments

You are missing California Audio Show (Oakland, CA).

Also, isn't there a New York show?
The California Audio Show is the incredible shrinking show. It gets smaller every year. I am not sure it survived after last year. There are over 30 audio equipment manufacturers in CA. Some are major players. It is a shame there is not a better show in the state.

I was there about a year. Jason just got deeper and deeper. The site became a tech support hub for BACCH and not much else. If you have a BACCH its a no brainer. You need to be there. If not, it stopped offering me much. Just a hard time.

I see your point it’s a shame even if we don’t have the product , we are audio nerds always want to learn
roon forums are in some ways the same.
but we still need them as an essential resource
while I love roon for simplicity reasons and it’s great features. It’s always changing in sound as they evolve features.
j river is much less a problem but is harder to use in certain ways. And hq player is a minefield of settings but can be amazing for one song or album then boom.
Digital is massively complex and many decisions are made for us . Middle of the road sounds.
roon gives us little in choices , j river is better. Hq is best but complex.
bacch had a room with Jenzen speakers. I’ve heard there setup before , but this speaker does not need bacch to me
That maker is a second gen builder really smart , kind and not a snob holy smokes how rare he is.
the tech is old but he made it new
the speakers are complete
streamer , dac , amp , WiFi , Bluetooth and analog input.
has a simple remote too to add sound expansion.
talked to him a while just a great room period.
first time in there I’m asking so how does this work. He said Bluetooth from his iPhone lol. Of course I am an ass and said what are you kidding lol.
he then explains I was shocked the sound was damn good and outdid many rooms at a much higher cost.
the tech in speaker drivers is old tech but just solid quality
I wonder how much better they are if WiFi or analog input is used as Bluetooth is bandwidth limited.

Its not bluetooth streaming. The Mac mini version which is going away has a Babyface Pro attached to the Mac Mini. You usb your streamer to the babyface pro as well as a screen and preamp. You use Bluetooth to control settings on the screen. You don't need a keyboad. A friend has it and uses his phone to control the device. He has a tv attached so he can see the setting screen from the listening chair, run sweeps, make small adjustments, save settings to buckets.
Edgar is very down to earth and genuine for a true high IQ genius. And yes, its old technology. Our audio club has a analog cross cancelation device that is a rotary dial. Super simple. Edgar took it way further. So far, the microphones in your ear adjust for the shape of your ear and how you in particular pick up frequencies.

But the ORC room correction is over the top and what interests me. People complain DSP sucks as they can never get it just right. ORC can perform a single room sweep and nail a room.
FWIW, Edgar will tell you, a properly set up speaker in a proper room will give far better results. It's not a miracle. It can't overcome a bad room setup. But if your room is close, it will ice the cake.

I believe I can use it to tri amp my speakers. It should do all the individual driver adjustments for all 3 amps on both speakers. I think. I have not got close enough to trying this to call him and ask.

I think the Adio is going to become the entry level when the Mac Mini is phased out. Like $12k or $15k. To rich for my blood. Still. Has a MSB DAC built in and I have heard of people selling their Select as the Adio is indistinguishable. And you get the BACCH and ORC functionality.
Gee, maybe I should get back on the channel.

I use to like Axpona. Its just big. I bet it wains as well.

I wrote to Lou and Gary and said they should blend AV and Car stereo into a big show with 2 channel. Get the kids with cars and just a larger audience with Video. I would love to hear some tricked out rigs. I have had my fair share of Zapco amps and custom speakers.
I also like a good home movie experience. Drawing a wide audience together would expose people all around.

If two channel audio were mixed with AV and home theater and car stereo at AXPONA I think it would be a big mess. I would stop going to the show.

AXPONA already is big and daunting to cover. I personally surely would not want it bigger.

They should have never moved LSAF. There was a very valid point to that show.

...the finish is really old-world good. Even ogling it close-up, which I have been known to do. There was a green pair for display on the first floor, equally as luscious. View attachment 139592
We appreciate the positive comments on the finish of the paint of the Von Schweikert speakers at CAF. All the more remarkable is that our brilliant artisan painter, Fausto Reyes, finishes the cabinets in California, a few miles from our assembly factory. Before painting for VSA, Fausto headed Fender Guitars pro shop, painting custom finishes for Prince and Aerosmith, to name a few. Changes at Fender from a family business to a private equity-owned firm allowed us to welcome Fausto to the Von Schweikert family, now proudly operating a made-in-California business for three decades.

Margulis tube amps& ceramic driver speakers managed to convincingly disappear in the vast musical canvas.

Julian is a brilliant designer and a true gentleman. More folks should hear his work and read his theories on what makes for a great audio experience. I have been to their factory in Mexico City. These folks have been making electronics and loudspeakers for a long, long time, and their dedication to their craft is evident. Well done, Julian and Bruce!
