Just spectacular. Bravo!

i noticed the pictures did not give me a sense of scale. This picture is of my fat old ass at 5‘ 11” and 240lbs to give some perspective. Good thing I don’t have to date anymore ...

Naw, you look plenty buffed out Hugh! I'm guessing Foley's wall panels are 72" high?

Great project .
Looks like a serious attempt to dethrone mike lavigne .:)
Did you take a reverberation time measurement already?

I only hope i have joined Mike by have a good sounding room :) I am a ways before taking measurements. Still have some diffusion to install. Dennis has said he would like to tune the room but the virus has changed all the timings. Also will not know when Joe Cali can come out for setup either. I may attempt the initial un-crating myself with my sons help. The speakers weigh about 425lbs so could take 3 people. Btw I dont street ride but looks like a nice Ducati for your avatar.

Yeah it was a streetfighter S
Sold it already for a suzuki to be honest , driving 200 km/h without a windscreen gets annoying rather quickly .
I see you race cars yourself
I hope to have a great quit room as well in couple of years..
I know it matters a lot

The room looks great, Hugh. You've been pretty physically active working on it these last months. Soon you will be sitting down a lot more enjoying the fruits of your efforts. Then you may learn more about the effects of a more sedentary lifestyle, LOL. Getting up to flip LPs I'm told is healthier than never moving and swiping a piece of glass looking for the right file.;)

Congratulations, and I really look forward to seeing the photos of the installed system.

Lol thank you Peter. I do swipe a lot and my elbow bends a lot in btwn the swiping. That Yeti tumbler gets heavy after each refill, its a good workout.

Serioulsy an epic room and build. Even for the truly dedicated room builds, not many like this anywhere. How fun this must be, congrats. Cant wait to see how the rest of the journey goes.

nice room , like your front and back wall, but dont understand why putting the opposite kind of treatment (i.e. absorbers opposed to qrd's) along the ceiling and side walls.
start with a few diffusors along the side walls on first and second reflection points. listen to the result and you can then chose between adding in some absorber after all or add more diffusers or call it a day.
my five cents...
otoh, i wish i had a room like yours, congrats

Hugh, what are your plans for storing media, or will you only listen to digital files? What about a bathroom, frig, sink, etc? Any provisions for those in this building, or will you go out to the house for those kinds of things?

Can you remind us of what components you have in your system? And will the rack be off to a side or centered? The room is almost finished, but I am trying to imagine the future layout. It is like a blank canvas now.

Hugh, this is everything one following along could've hoped to expect. Can't wait to see if you make another short video with full system and light show after all the installs and testing finally get completed.

(Still wondering if you will have stored your dead enemies in those carbon coffins behind the plywood. Hope to never read the news... “a grisly [but amazingly odor free] scene was discovered today by local authorities...”)

I never would have gotten there without your comment. That carpet does bear a slight resemblance to a crime scene.

Your sounding like Dennis please stop :) The straight up answer is i have spent enough. The ceiling and side walls would be another $100K. the current ray trace algorithm returned a very good value for the current setup. We will measure and see how this one sounds first. And Thanks for following

Hi Peter,
I am a digital guy. I typically jump around and data mine music. Tidal is perfect for me. I do have about 500 CD’s ripped and some HDTrack 24 bit files. If not for Tidal I would never have discovered music for example from Clannad or Trondheimsolistene. I do admire the exceptional analog setups found on WBF but right now its not for me.

I have another building right next door with a bathroom already. It’s the race car shop, if guests want a pretty potty they can take the golf cart to the main house. I will have a wine fridge and bar. Hey its going to be me 99% of the time.

The rack (Artesania) will be on the right wall behind the speakers. The amp will be on another Artesania table between the speakers. I will (for now) have two Eames chairs with foot stools and two end tables. Ideally I hope both chairs will be in the sweet spot for my wife and I. However She is a squirrel and can only stand being seated for so long but she is classically trained in piano and can also play the flute, go figure.

Equipment ready and waiting is:
Speakers: Gryphon Trident II
Amp: Gryphon Antileon EVO stereo
Pre: Gryphon Pandora
Music server: Innuos Statement
DAC: MSB Reference
Power: Torus 60 amp wall mount
cables etc: Shunyata and Cardas
