I received yesterday afternoon a nice super heavy flight case with a 180 pound or so MTRS stereo power amp.
I managed to get some assistance today and we got the amp into my larger sound room and hooked the beast up.
I turned it on and my initial reaction was let in settle in as it sounds a bit tight, thin and unsettled. I honestly did not know what to expect as I have always liked their digital gear and never really remember listening to their electronics back in the day.
6 hours later I returned . It had been playing at a reasonable level for that time frame. I sat down and OMG had things changed.
I have to admit I was truly surprised. I really had no grand expectations but rather thought this would be a good power amp, well made, representative of some of the other things I have heard but that is not what I found. This is far better than that.
Lets see if it gets even better overnight. To be continued...

Does not that unit require huge 240 V industrial cord and 240Volt outlet (not sure about Amperage) ?
It has a 30amp power cord with a huge connector like Boulder but it plugs into a 117 volt outlet on the business end. In my case a Shunyata T30

I left the system playing overnight and will let it play all day until this afternoon when I will do a listening session.

I'm not sure exactly how to start but Ill dive right in. I've been busy all day setting up room two and doing some of the preliminaries for the event next week. The big room as been playing all day and for the last two days. My reaction has changed from ho hum to this is one wicked power amplifier. I don't know yet how much more it will grow but it will certainly get the opportunity to do so over this week and next. I ma going to move it early next week to room two and use the mono blocks in my big room for the event on the 31st.
If you like to get inside the groove or the pocket this amp on this system today I could not stop my foot from taping. This sense of rhythm and timing is infatuating. It just feels so good and it something that makes me want to listen more.
I started the session with something old that i like and use it to settle in Dinah Shore "it's all right with me" from Great ladies of Song album. I followed that up with something far more powerful from Joey DeFrancesco - "Never can say goodbye: from the music of Michael Jackson. The system really came alive in a way that frankly I don't believe it has ever done before. I love Joey and am a big fan of the organ and this cut with the big amp is a lot of fun. I followed it with one of my all time Favorites Michel Petrucciani playing So What from So what the best of with my favorite drummer Steve Gadd and Anthony Jackson. This is such a great cut and something I find addicting. I decided to rock a bit with Savoy Brown featuring Kim Simmonds on guitar on a track called Blues like Midnight from the album You should have been there. I forgot one cut I love and played from Nenad Vasilic called Minority off the bass and strings album this guy is terrific .
My Gobel Divin Noblesse with Sovereign Subs, Riviera preamp, Wadax reference system just blew me away. If it sounds like fun it was and is.
I am not sure where this stands in my mind just yet but I will say I really like this amp and can't wait to try the mono blocks next week.
