It came down right now to investing my money in a SOTA R2R deck or digital front-end. That was a no brainer. Tape--->Records--->Digital. Tape is invaluable reference for reviewing especially when it comes to turntables and cartridges.
Yes, an old Sony SCD-1 and a Altis Audio Reference 24/96 DAC (tube analog section) and CDTIII transport. The Altis is still one of the most listenable CD players I've heard and it's a decade old.
do you think there will be a thread like this in 20years called look at all these lovely looking Cd players/Servers
My 30year old oracle still gets the " Ooh thats lovely , what is it " Even my 50year old garrard still gets comments

Hi DEv, I am using the Sutherland since four years, also the Kuzma strobe and the Allnic. These are fine instruments to check the right speed. If you have one cart on one arm and you do not change your settings you don't need a precision controller like the SDS being able to adjust perfectly all parameters. There are many ways to Rome, maybe you test it one day if you like or you stay with your excellent MS system in the present status.
picked up today both units so will try and see "hear" and difference. The motor unit has some weight to it i comparison to the SDS but both finishes are nice. Are you using the supplied power cables, if not what are you using and was were the differences if any.

I've used some old Shunyata as well as ESP AC cords that were lying around with great success. Be careful though: need a "light" cord or the weight of the PC (yeah and try to find a light PC nowadays!) will strain the motor or SDS connection.
Hi Dev,
excellent. yes I am using the supplied cables between motor unit and SDS, for the power cable I have my own 240V cables. Now you will experience how you you can adjust absolutely precisely in very small steps via the SDS. Enjoy and let me know how it works, also in comparison to the stand alone MS unit.
