A couple of videos with a nice reference track of Kodo Drums and an album DDK gave me while in Utah. You will want to listen to the drums track on your PC or audio system if possible because the bottom end will just distort your phone speakers.

Aries Cerat is the real deal. There is a strong possibility the Contendo may be coming to a Texan here in Austin this year.....

Sorry if this has been covered before, but are there additional Basshorns in addition to the 3 drivers per side immediately visible?

Fantastic system, btw.

Hi Guys,

Mental system. What is the power of these bad boys? What output tubes?

On the horns, the humongous lower driver covers what frequencies? Presumably a mid bass with that more conventional looking bass bin (on the left of the previous page photo) doing lowest duties?

Correct. The unfinished cabinets just outside of the larger midbass horns are the basshorns for the system.

5x the output of the Symphonia basshorn

Love the system approach, hard to tell quality of sound using computer speakers, but it has potential. The amp certainly looks like an all-out assault design

Great posts Joshua. This is dream stuff here, loving it! Stavros is a true enthusiast and a genuine creative thinker. With a zero ego as well which is very rare. I found a great atmosphere between Stavros, distr.'s, dealers and clients when I went to Munich. And here we have the same but even more of that. Basically everyone involved is nuts about music.

Audio companies that are a certain size (not too big) driven by the original designer and always looking for new ways to push forward, these are the companies I like to follow.

While we all love talking about gear it was nice to share our passion for music and how it moves the soul. I totally agree that companies like Aries Cerat that haven't lost touch with the music or the clients they serve are a rare breed. The Achilleas amplifier is a perfect example of this. Stavros went way over budget when designing this amplifier and did not pass on the additional 40k to Billy because it was Stavros who wanted to make it even better. That is love and why I respect the man so much.

You are very welcome.

No online video can convey the speed and intensity of that cut. I have not been able to stop thinking about it and worked out a plan. If I donate blood and sperm every day for the next 20 years I might be able to afford half a Contendo and I would be more than happy with that.

I will say...it sounds more like a recording of artists than a recording of a stereo playing music. Well done. Incredibly balanced playback on the laptop...clearly not definitive of what the system actually sounds like...but sure seems like a very very strong proxy!

Great sound. Excellent ambient rethrieval. You were using the Red Sparrow on both tracks?

Kind regards,
Tang

Correct. The first day we used the Etsuro Gold and on the second day we switched to the Red Sparrow which we used for the remainder of the trip. Both sounded incredible on the Contendo system so it would have been nice for certain tracks to switch between both. However the Bergmann LT was the only arm.

After 3 days of listening the Red Sparrow was decided to be the cartridge of choice for Aries Cerat and is now their demo cart for the foreseeable future.
