Have forums been replaced by YouTube?

I was chatting with a dealer friend, and we discussed how forums have lost interest and that YouTube could be the reason. There does seem like a lot of interaction with YouTubers and their channels. They are also hosting regular live streams, podcasts, meetups at shows, etc. for a more personal interaction than forums provide.

Personally, I gravitate to YouTube more than WBF now (which candidly is most of the same discussions we had 10 years ago, so not entirely related to this subject)

Are folks spending more time on forums or YouTube channels?

interesting question but our stats show us to be busier than we have ever been. So much so that we seem to be running out of memory on a regular basis due to the number of users on the forum.

yeah, I see dramatically less posting here but that's a good sign that users are up. you obviously have better data.

maybe its just more lurker city these days

Another option is WhatsApp groups, depending on the app’s popularity in your area. Audiophiles around me migrated to WhatsApp groups and left local forums years ago. As a thickheaded person myself, I chose not to join the WhatsApp groups.

i watch a lot of YT but its hardly ever audio related .
I watch Science / History / documentaries that kind of thing.

Most Audio reviewers / You tubers are not very knowledgable imo , i do like the occasional designer interview .

Hearing stuff for yourself says more then a thousand words ;)
