Have we done this one lately? What is everyone's (owned) reference loudspeaker?

Thanks Steve. It's taken several iterations to get to this point...very pleased with the WAF...oh and the sonics

Impressive Mark!

Thanks. It certainly isn't in the same league as yours. The deck you see sitting on the floor is the Ampex ATR-700 which will soon be going to a new home.

Room is 16wx30lx10h and opens in the back to a bar. My reel to reel is nothing special just GX625 Akai. It has been recently gone thru by my tech guy with all the old transistors and caps replaced...oiled, cleaned etc. but it only plays at 7.5 so no TP for me as of yet. I probably won't do the 15ips thing anyway. I have a Naim Unitiserve in conjunction with a 3T NAS drive on my network that houses around 4000 albums in FLAC format...etc. I could go on...

here's my Akai:

What a beautiful room and home! :D Very well done!

Nice room and gear Mark! You need to get your LP's under control though! ;)

You are right John. I no sooner get them all put away and the next thing you know, they are all over the place again.

Wow!

No...not enough alcohol had been consumed at that point...by me nor the audience. Thanks for the kind words.

I've had some version of the T-3 since 1999. They are 97 db 1 watt/1 meter, 16 ohms and flat to 20Hz. They are quite accurate- very fast, especially with the field-coil drivers, yet also quite relaxed. With 60 watts I can play very loud (+105db), yet even at high volumes the system is relaxed since the amp does not have to work very hard. Many systems with as much as 10x amplifier power come off to me as small and dynamically limited- having efficiency combined with accuracy is a real boon.
