Much as I admire the effort that’s going into these statement pieces from Innuos, Taiko and others, what has impressed me more is the beautifully designed Eversolo server/DAC’s that give you amazing bang for the buck. For someone like me, who runs 5-6 systems of various complexity in my house, the traditional megabuck servers are just not practical. But Eversolo is just right. For one, it’s a server/DAC that works independent of Roon, but also compatible with it.
I ended up buying four (!) of the Eversolo systems of different types. These are a piece of cake to set up and they work absolutely reliably. The software appears bullet proof, which is more than I can say after 5-6 years of Roon. I’m happy to sit on the sidelines and wait for the streaming/server market to mature further. It will take another few years or more. In the interim, my Lampi server works great with my Lampi Pacific in my main system and the various Eversolo’s I have are stashed in smaller rooms. They’re light and don’t run hot. Slip in a 4 TB NVME drive into an Eversolo and you can have a very large personal library of music independent of WiFi idiosyncrasies. That’s what I do with mine.
