I love Rupert Neve. Great gear. Legendary performance. Anything he has to say is worth listening to.
FWIW, I studied much of both Kelvin’s and Rayleigh’s work in several fields (including acoustics) as a young man. I have had Dover paperbacks dating back over 50 years. I was led through much of it by my mentor in acoustics, Allan D. Pierce. Their work is timeless, as is Allan’s. But it is a difficult slog for modern minds.
I’ve owned and used Neve designed equipment in professional work. It has always performed beyond expectations.
