"It's hell getting old!"

I've been there and back..........should be a cakewalk if I end up there again!

and that was just watching Ronaldo...:)

Haha! Great, great player...too bad he sucks when he plays wearing the national jersey.

Slept a total of 7 hours last weekend because no matter what I do I wake up earlier and earlier in the morning. At this rate I'll be getting up at 3am by the the time I'm 60. It's hell getting old.

I lost 30 yards off the tee and a club and a half with my irons in the last five years. Nerves aren't what they used to be either. It's hell getting old.

My little kids are growing fast and it's a joy watching their development. Getting old ain't so bad after all.

Dealing with aging parents is very instructive- my wife's mother is 93 and tough as nails. She's like that knight in the Holy Grail- she breaks her pelvis carrying an ironing board down the stairs (despite instructions to the contrary) and thinks it's just as scratch. The guy down the street, who was in the OSS back in the day, is in his nineties, and still drives to Manhattan to catch a play or dinner.
Me, I'm a wimp. And, I'd hate to admit how much high frequency sensitivity I've lost as I approach 60. (It is particularly evident where there is any form of ambient noise that acts as a filter).
Aches and pains- I have never felt better in my life after losing 50 lbs and working out constantly. It's not that I want to stave off death, I want the quality of the living to be as good as possible.....

Anyway, let's face it; the energetic (physical love and all that Jazz) years are behind most of us (55 and over). :D

So, console ourselves with the good 'energetic' souvenirs of our youth. :b

But in our minds we can still be 25-35 years old!

Even less depending on the occasion LOL!

I strongly disagree--and that comes from someone 57 years old. That is an antiquated and wife's tale. You should see the master's competition in all sports nowadays. Pretty impressive performances by these athletes.

Let me show you what some of my 70 year old clients still do. I have clients in their '80s still working out. One of my clients, who passed away a couple of years ago at 82, rowed single scull crew competively til the day he died.

EXERCISE, diet, nutrition, hormonal balance, stress reduction, facing new challenges, are the keys to quality of life and longetivity. And having the mutated version of the CETP gene doesn't hurt either.

Not necessarily. I had significant sciatica since I was a young man and it resulted in great pain and some muscle wasting until I signed on for physical therapy. I had resisted this for years but, damn, it worked and I have not had a recurrence in more than 10 years. Getting older doesn't suck (although one has to consider the options in context).

There are also lot's of reasons for sciatica :) Kinda like Parkinson's disease where you are describing the symptoms :)

Yes - sounds like it's quite a common problem with getting old. Thanks for the good wishes. This week I'm well enough to lean up and work on a laptop in bed :)

You doc didn't think a cortisone injection would help?
