JackD201 - Almost Done

Not sure I understand how you can have thick-enough skin to be a politician, yet not have thick enough skin to be a member on WBF?
Jack, I hope you reconsider as many of us miss your participation. Think of it this way, just look at WBF participation as good training to be a politician!!
Because in the scheme of things WBF doesn't matter. Seems to me Jack's priorities are perfectly in order.

I do not think that is the right question. This is supposed to be our hobby, not our profession. (I am not debating or suggesting whether Jack has a thin skin or a thick skin. I think that is irrelevant. "Skin thickness," in my opinion, has nothing to do with this.) Even if an audiophile has a thick skin in his profession it does not follow necessarily that he should also have a thick skin, or want to have to have a thick skin, in his hobby.

It is a simple cost/benefit analysis. If the costs to a member of participating in WBF (aggravation, time, annoyances, dealing with ignorant opinions or rude comments, etc.) exceed the benefits of participation then that member will leave. It is as simple as that.

I followed Jack's posts closely, so it is unfortunate for me personally that he left.

I avoid posting on threads which have devolved into combativeness and impolite contentiousness. For me, those particular threads have costs which exceed the benefits of reading them.

or how about this from the top of our home page.....

What's Best Forum (WBF Forum)
The friendliest place to find the best in audio, video, music, movies, television, health, sports and much more!

This place has become the wild west with little if any decorum caused by the same people or person(s) to the point where there is now a mass exodus.I have to ask, is this forum really the friendliest place..........

We miss you Jack

It could be the friendliest if some would leave their egos at the door. The one-upmanship is mind-boggling and very off-putting.

Totally agree.

I don't see Jack @ any other audio forums, there must be one forum where he is happy, where is it so that I can pay him a visit and say Hi.
Besides, I need some solid advice on a new setup venture...regarding music listening a trois.

He does post occasionally at forums which you no longer visit...

If the admins value Jack's contribution (as most? of us do), they could issue an apology on behalf of the offending member and delete all relevant posts, because they are eventually responsible for the content on this site.... unless the offender is one of the admins (which would complicate things).

That, would be the easiest part to fix...mutual harmonizing.

It is not about any kind of apology. Neither Steve nor I have had any negative interactions with Jack on the forum either so there is nothing to delete (of course there are discussions in our private admin forum). Nor has anyone else done that to have caused his departure. The fix if any, would have nothing to do with any apology or deleting posts. Read Jack's post and you may get an idea of what it is about.

I am inclined at this time to explain what this is about but I am also very mindful of the wisdom Frantz shared. I suspect any sharing of the details of what went on would seal Jack's departure. So weigh that against the desire/need to know. And let us know your position on this issue and we weigh that in private and decide on a course of action.

And oh, I am extremely sad to have seen Jack leave. Next to my partner Steve, I would take the proverbial bullet for our three moderators who are some of the most level headed, nicest people I have had the pleasure of working with. Let there be no doubt about that.

Hello Amir and good evening to you. The question is, what can we (and you with the proverbial bullet) do to rectify the situation and make things right again? This is a great forum and I am only speaking for myself when I say this.....

Members such as Jack should be treated with the utmost of respect, not only by the members of this forum, but that of ALL that reply to him. He has shown that respect to us as a Founding Member of this forum, that of a regular member, followed by the additional task of becoming a well reasoned and extremely knowledgeable moderator. There is a common decency to show that back to him. No matter what differences one may have in topics or the way to go about proving or explaining your point, respect must be first and foremost.

I don't know who's older here but "respect your elders" comes to mind. ;)

You'd know best what to do next. I don't think anyone really cares about the details, only to see Jack back.

Hello all within the WBF arena. There are things going on behind the scenes to hopefully persuade our beloved Jack to come back. I will NOT get into the details but the groundwork for letting this happen are already in place and we (as a management team) will do everything within our power to make it to where Jack entertains the thought of joining back into the fun we all call the WBF. This may not include him becoming a moderator again but it is our wish and our intention to get him back as a great member of the WBF.

That is it for now. Hopefully our intentions and decisions make the best end result for the forum. Thanks again for your support of Jack, he IS truly missed. ;)
