Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

Jerry so you did get an EML 274b. I received mine. Haven’t put it in yet. Want to get to the 300 hour mark before rolling tubes. Have you tried the Sophia Electric 274b Aqua II?

The burn in has been brutal on the TRP. Some times it sound straight bad. Fortunately my vinyl setup sounds fantastic. My brother stopped over Friday and after 3 songs we went to records and his comment was the TRP sounds broken compared to vinyl. Had around 80 hours at that point
@GroovySauce
I’m not sure of in which of these Lampi threads it was mentioned but it seems others have made comments regarding the Aqua II rectifier as well. Have you ever tried the original Aqua 274B? My TRP3 shipped with one and it always sounded good.

I have Aqua IIs in the TRP and my amp. I've listened the original Aqua in an amp I was borrowing, that's what sold me on the Aqua II. I asked if he had listened to the Aqua II to get a better understanding of what he is hearing.

Last night the TRP finally started to open up a bit at 100 hours. I'm getting hints of the 3D and holography that sold me on the TRP.

Good day to you all!
Since this weekend I am the proud owner of a used Pacific, single ended, no vc. It is playing and souding beautifully.
I have ordered a pair of KR 242 tubes at a store in Belgium, but I had to cancel the order. The shop says they will get it delivered anyway. If someone is interested in buying the tubes from the store please pm me so that I can give the store information.

Well I've been playing with my Tesla AD27 courtesy of a couple of WBF members and I have to say I really like them. My standard tubes are RK KR PX25 which I really like. They are a bit.more dynamic than the Super TNT 300Bs I have tried, but putting in the Teslas brings the music alive even more so. Focus is more snappy and the realism goes up a notch.
I am not someone who has traditionally tube rolled but these Teslas have convinced me that it is worth the journey. Gain is up compared to the RK PX25. I have not yet had the chance to try the KR242 but my guess is some of that flavor is evident in these Teslas.
There is one downside though. Putting my PX25 back can make sound seem a little boring sometimes. Is that good? I don't know. It's not like you're on a high with the Teslas. They are not fatiguing at all but it does mean my RK PX 25 have been relegated to their box.....View attachment 67045View attachment 67046
Where did you get these adpaters please? They are same as for 300b?

I know the PT14 tubes in the Lampizator DHT dacs have been praised many times. I have been listening to them with the TP adapters for about a week now, and I am impressed too.

The PT14 is indeed a very transparent tube. They have an incredible see through quality. Clear as the blue sky.

What really stands out for me though is its naturalness. It is incredible ‘detailed’ but it is so natural and for lack of a better word: elegant. All music is presented in a very open and coherent space. In that sense they remind me of Western Electric tubes such as 274B and 300B. There is a beautiful flow in the music that is very addictive. It is a joyful tube if that makes sense. They are light on their feet and more or less dance through the music: joyful.

But, they can bite… if the music demands it. They are in full control during (very) demanding musical passages (in contrast to Western electric 300B and 274B). They are fast sounding. You never have the idea that they can not keep up with the music. You just relax and enjoy whatever music you play through it. That is a very rewarding feeling.

What a great find this PT14! It also shows how valuable this forum community is. Without all of you, I would never ever have found a tube like the PT14 and that would be a terrible miss. So, a big thank you to all you dedicated tube experimenters.

Anyone can share their feelings and comparasions Tesla RD27a vs Tesla Ad1n vs Emission Labs Ad1 mesh/plate? I realy like how Tesla sounded in my friend´s house and EL AD1 in my house today, incredible sounding. Maybe Golum can say something?

I’m really glad you’re enjoying the PT14s. . I’ll add another comment on these. The quad I purchased test NOS according to the person I purchased them from. They came with original boxes and appeared to be possibly true NOS tubes. In other words, it is possible that I was the first one to actually use them. This is unusual, but certainly possible. In any case, what I found is there was a break-in process and the characteristics of the tubes have now changed. I use quads and experiment with different positions in the quad for lowest noise testing -with maximum volume and no signal playing. I noticed that with this particular test, the characteristic changed significantly after about 100 hours of break-in. I went back and had to reposition the tubes a second time for lowest noise and noticed an immediate improvement in sound quality as well at that point.

Do be patient. In a GG2/3, I just burned in TP adapters with already settled PT-14's, along with a new RGN 2004 black mesh and its adapter. I don't know whether it was the adapters or recti or both, but the sound tonally changed significantly on the cool-neutral-warm continuum from 310 hrs to 350 and then again at 368. I'm currently re-burning in a silver mesh, which after 48 hours had changed radically from cool-neutral with the Italian adapter to enticingly (slightly) warm with the TP. Have to see how that holds. Btw, adding the NPS-Q45T contact enhancer to the tube and adpater pins also offers a very noticeable improvement to clarity and soundstage (Q45T and its predecessor, NPS-1260, was High Fidelity Rick Schulz's creation, now available in the States from the Cable Co since Rick went out of business).

Mine had a long break-in period too. After about 100 hours they really started to sing and become very holographic. In the beginning they sounded a bit 'technical' . Detailed but not organic.

Hello to all!
I’m interested in learning more about this particular tube (see pic). Has anyone heard these, own these, know about these? Any feedback would be appreciated.

A couple of new arrivals from @takacs75 today - az1 adapter (for a friend) and also a pair of ecc40 adapters. The latter are for my Levante amplifier (hence the off centre orientation in dac, whose sockets are aligned differently) but is easier to burn them in on the dac.

My quad of PT14 just arrived from Laszlo for my GG.
Thought I was planning ahead and had correct adapters but alas I don’t.
What is the base on the PT14 tubes called, or is there a source on eBay etc for adapters?

Wow, that was disappointing haha

Ok so now I know the best is eu-telephone 5pin.

As nice as the beautiful wooden tube adapters are I couldn’t stretch the budget that far.

What’s another solution for an adapter guys?

PM me. I have non-TP adapters that Laszlo was providing with the PT-14s before they developed the TP adapter design. I have a pair but others have pairs and quads they'd be willing to sell as well. Just know that going the TP adapter route is inevitable;-)

That’s what I’m after thanks. I’ll put a wanted advert up in case I can find a quad of the cheaper adapters somewhere
