Welcome to our mini club. I hope you get the enjoyment that I have received from my LDMS. It has been great conversing with you.
Been thinking about a Mini-Max myself. I'm currently using an Antipodes K50 via AES to my Lamp Baltic 3. I'm somewhat concerned as I checked with Lucas2 and he doesn't offer an AES option. Has anyone switched from an AES to RCA coax when moving to the LDMS? Specifically, has anyone compared with an Antipodes K50? Thanks!

I have not compared the LDMS to Antipodes K50 but have you considered BNC as a connector? On my new LDMS that is coming I will have a SPDIF, USB and BNC connector.

Willgolf, I had not even thought of that option! That might be an elegant solution. Thank you!

They are the exact same topology only the cable is different.
I don’t know of a spidif that is balanced but AES is for longer runs than a rack.
I have a usb that has multiple outputs
Rca , aes , optical , bnc , hdmi and rj45 all work at the same time
I can say I’ve done testing on 3 Lampi dacs and 5 or more ss dacs. I can’t hear anything different

Scotch the BNC option because my Baltic 3 does not have the input....

I have a really nice Sablon AES cable and so tried putting on some cheapie XLR-RCA adapters to test the coax connection between the K50 server and the Baltic 3 DAC. Didn't sound very good, nor did the only true RCA digital cable I had on hand, a Cardas Lightning. Hence, I don't know if the collapse of the soundstage is due to any inferiority relative to an AES connection or whether not having a good RCA digital cable was the real culprit.

Actually, I am going to be ordering a BNC to RCA connector. That way I can run it on any DAC. BNC from LDMS to RCA on DAC

That splits the baby!

What brand of cable will you be using?

Nice! Is it the MiniMax in a small chassis + hybrid psu?

This is a Minimax in a slimmer (vertically) case due to space constraints in my home office setup. It is 280mm wide, 410mm deep, and 88mm vertical including feet.
Standard dimensions for hybrid PSU (so same width, 85mm vertical, less long).
